[Show spoiler]Anyone can use. Even though historically they've been once per account recently almost all the online codes have been re-usable. For smaller orders there is also 20% off code for anyone to use (unknown exp) and expected 30% BF code upcoming (everyone keeping fingers crossed on the one time/reusable issue)
Thanks for the code, it works for non-members.

Peter Becker is the President of Criterion, son of William Becker who basically founded Criterion and who passed away in September.

Little known fact: Jon Mulvaney played Bernie Lomax's body double.

Since Arsenic and Old Lace has yet to receive a blu release, what are the chances of Criterion picking up the rights to release this?

Doesn't Warner Bros. own the rights?

I received The Apu Trilogy in the mail today, and I'm excited to see the films. I'll have to watch them after I finish watching The Essential Jacques Demy set.

I also think I "tricked" Amazon into sending the set faster. I originally had it as free shipping (5-8 days), then bumped it up to 2-day shipping, and then decided that I didn't want to pay that much and so chose the standard 4-5 day shipping (and was charged $4.98 for standard shipping). That was on Monday and I received it on Thursday.

Apu Trilogy packaging pics (for those of you interested):

Overall, the same sort of packaging as the three colours or jaques tati sets. what's defintely changed, however, is the little booklet that contains the essays and storyboard pictures... they've used a completely different binding for the booklet, it's stapled together now, and not like the booklets that were included in eraserhead, mulholland dr, seven samurai, and other digipacks. I'm hoping that they don't start doing this with future releases, I love the durable and blocky look and feel of the old booklets.

Hasn't Criterion said on multiple occasions now that they have a working relationship with WB, and more WB releases on the way?

Yes, but I have interpreted it as more of a "we're trying to get there" type of thing.

I was expecting the be bigger. For me, with Criterion digipaks, size DOES matter. You can't really get a good grasp of a small thin one :P needs to be big and chunky

Ah poor me, I'm so dirty minded.

Yeah, I would love to see Criterion (and everybody else, for that matter) get the run of Warner's back catalog but there's precious little evidence of any meaningful shift in Warner's tight-fisted hold on their libraries.

The only thing that Criterion has specifically alluded to was some pre-code films. There's no indication that their new relationship with Warner will open the floodgates.

I would think there is a lot of real estate in between "not gonna happen" and "floodgates are open". Seems these days studio canal is closer to not gonna happen than WB is.

Except for the 3 (or I guess its technically 4) titles theyve put out so far:

Badlands
Day For Night
and now The Emigrants/The New Land

The "floodgates" may not be a swarm of Warner Bros titles coming each month but theres definitely a lot more than the past with more on the way.
Doubt theyd be willing to part with Arsenic and Old Lace though.

Fair enough. But the Wexner talk at which Criterion mentioned a deal with Warner was over a year ago, and so far, we've only seen two Warner titles come out from Criterion (one of them a Malick, which probably would've happened anyway).

Back at that time, atfree said the following:

Quote:
Originally Posted by atfree View Post

Assuming atfree isn't passing what was actually said through filters of his own, that doesn't sound like much, if anything, was actually nailed down.

Maybe Criterion really has gotten Warner to let them release some significant titles from their catalog. But until we actually start seeing some being announced by Criterion, it seems a waste of time speculating on what notable Warner titles might be in the pipeline or churning out wishlists.
