Criterion would need to construct a special fire-retardant disc just to ensure that the heat in this scene alone didn't set your blu-ray player on fire.

...it's just sad that there are so many little boys here who can't handle this level of emotional intensity.

And of course we always mock what don't understand.

1. Antichrist genital mutilation scene.

2. Salo poo feast.

3. Sweet Movie food, vomit and urine feast.

4. Fat Girl end.

5. Macbeth witch flashing her penis.

Can i say that we can't judge Top Gun by the same criteria we judge a typical Criterion movie? (i'm saying typical leaving out obviously Jellyfish Eyes )

"Border Radio" is awful as are the "I Am Curious" films. And don't forget about everyone's favorite gem, "A Safe Place". Also, "Jellyfish Eyes", which I haven't seen, may soon be staking claim in the category of "Worst Criterion films".

I watched The Brood in October. I should preface by saying that I enjoy Cronenberg's films (obviously with any artist line of work, you have strong pieces and ones you admire but not necessarily gravitates towards others).

I thought The Brood was good and the ending was a let down.
[Show spoiler] For the atmosphere and build up, I was hoping for more impact. I think if they'd ended with her showing the reveal, I thought that was strong but when they showed the little kids killing, it took away from the shock. Setting the movie in winter was great. I did wonder how it would've worked in warmer season. How he'd handled the mystery part with costuming/editing/cinematography. I also liked that the film is from the late 70's (my childhood). It added to the film.
Overall I thought it was a good film with strong concept, atmosphere and suspense.

I haven't seen many other Croneneberg's films. Aside from The Brood, so far these are the ones I've seen (some from very long ago and need to revisit):
Cosmopolis, A History of Violence, existenZ, Crash, Naked Lunch, The Dead Zone (one of my favorite), The Fly, Videodrome (need to watch again since it's been so long).

Those scenes are sexual in nature.

Top Gun volleyball scene has nothing to do with sex.

...it's about playing with the boys.

...it's about heat.

in that case, one of the hottest scenes has to be one Gondo is mowing the lawn in High & Low.

Ok, you're probably joking but actually I do find Tom Cruise and Rick Rossovich hot as hell in that scene.

Speedy review is up at DVDbeaver. Screenshots look very, very nice. The detail in the shot of the hand holding the watch is extraordinary.

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't objectify Rick Rossovich.

...the man is a serious actor who studied method acting at Julliard.

That being said, I agree with you.

I love the play, but in terms of film, Throne on Blood is the crown jewel.

Not seen yet but seriously...? Polanski's is brilliant, the new adaptation that came out this year is also a very good adaptation.

(Only text answer is acceptable)

I have another question...Are you blu? Can I call you blu-Ray?
(Only gif answer is acceptable)

Thanks a lot guys. I was going to watch Top Gun tonight, but you have ruined it for me by pointing out the homoerotism. Fine...I'll just watch 300 because that's a real man's film.

I enjoyed Night and the City quite a bit and expect it to have excellent staying power but I think it got a little victimized by both the hype machine and my completely unexpected 'holy ****, where has this been all my life' reaction to Ride the Pink Horse.
