Un-frickin-believable.

I just listened to his new album too, released 3 days ago.

This is nearly equivalent to Stanley Kubrick dying 3 days after he finished editing Eyes Wide Shut.

An artist still at the top of his game.

Bloody hell.

First work day after Christmas and this is the first news I read

R.I.P. tall white dude!

Last night I listened to his 1977 classic album "Low". I danced to "Modern Love" this past Saturday night. I introduced a new friend to David Bowie four days ago. A few weeks ago I bought one of his albums on vinyl.

He's supposedly had a new 21st century comeback ... until this.

Damn, what shitty news.

The Masters of Cinema release is great! I'd recommend that one!

Pretty sad news, I have never been a big fan of his, in a way that I hear his complete albums, but several movies have songs from him that I have liked quite a bit like Cat People on Inglorious Basterds or Modern Love in Mauvais Sang, but I did admire him as an actor, perhaps I need to explore more his music.

Coincidentally just today I ended up watching a movie about Cancer, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, pretty good movie that at times seems to be an advertisement for the Criterion Collection with all the classic movie references it has.

Edit: As a matter of fact, I just found this on wikipedia about the movie:

Quote:
Criterion Collection president Peter Becker recently told us, 'We loaned our whole library to those guys for their movie!'

i don't listen to this kind of music (or songs generally -i listen only to classical and orchestral soundtracks) though I understand he's an important part of that music.
But Labyrinth is one of my favourite movies and part of my childhood, so i may see this later..

RIP to David Bowie. Awful news. I actually first started getting into Bowie's music when I was about 18 when I heard his song "Queen B*tch" at the end of "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". I'd heard some of his big hits like "Space Oddity", but had never listened to many of his albums. Then, I listened to most of his albums and was blown away. He was a true a musical genius. Such a loss.

MoC blu-ray for sure. The HD transfer blows away the DVD to Kingdom Come, and I think all the extras from the CC DVD are present.

I'm glad Bowie passed away while he was still in the creative process. I'm sure for an artiste of his nature, nothing would be worse than to be relegated to a bunch of decades old Greatest Hits. I only hope he did not have to endure too much discomfort in the course of fighting the disease.

RIP David Bowie. The greatest solo artist of all time. Stands with The Beatles at the pinnacle of rock and pop music.
