I thought you guys might get a laugh out of this. I was wearing my Janus Films t-shirt the other day--with a cardigan--and I noticed that the cashier at the grocery store was giving me odd looks. I think this is why:

BTW...for those with NetFlix, can stream it.
Forgive my ignorance but that is Jungian? Sounds like a species from the Star Wars universe.

Carl Jung believer. Like a Fourierism for those who follow Charles Fourier....

Like all of us who buy too much Criterion and many Blu-rays, although we may not be Marxist, his followers would say we are a society about "Commodity Fetishism". Hehe...

I must've looked like a fan of some high-brow smut distributor.

By the way, kndy, great to see Everything is Cinema on your bookshelf. I just finished it the other day--great read!

So the guys over at CriterionForum had thought up a little game:

"So You Think You Can Design a Better Modern Times Cover?"

Does anyone here want to make up a custom Modern Times cover and want to share with us?

I'll start off:

That collection ranks right up there with Kndy's. The guy also has an incredible home theater setup.

judging by the picture on this website it is not supposed to look like this...

i know its a real copy i mean i ordered it directly from amazon and of course it has that great criterion smell..............

is this just some kind of printing area on my cover/spine?

...Hey, so what if Criterion's looks like one of those creepy abstract Polish movie posters?

The winner of the forum thread, by common consent, btw:

...Now, that's what we're talking about--Wouldn't that have made a little more sense??

(Seriously, even if the DVD release already used http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1448908800/tt0027977 , that still would've legally allowed Criterion to use http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3949041664/tt0027977 , which was the "true" remembered shot anyway.)

I've decided to finally make a move on putting a dent in the CC OOPs. I already have all the OOP blu's and a few of the DVDs (Many of which can still be bought from Amazon direct.) I just picked up Grand Illusion, The Killer, Hard Boiled, and Dead Ringers from third party sellers. I've always have had good TPS experiences but I still cross my fingers when I hit that "Place Order" button.

I agree. I have purchased a lot of TPS from Movie Marrs and they come through every single time. The most recent purchase was Eternal Sunshine... and it arrived within 5 business days in perfect unopened shape.

More talent than Michael Bay. And his movie knowledge is very good.
For the last time, IMDB is a website to show you how popular a film is based on ratings. The reason why The Shawshank Redemption is no. 1 is because it attracted every viewer no matter their more favorable genre.

Rob Zombie over Michael Bay?? H3ll no. Michael Bay makes popcorn films that are beyond entertaining, while the script might be bad or acting he still makes box office hits because of his collaboration with the military and will to blow everything up in his films. He is probably the best entertaining director ever.

Why drag the thread back off topic?
