That's pretty awesome, and I hear ya about the training. My fastest half is 1:49 and change, so I'm impressed with your half time.

One of these days, I need to try a flat race course, because all of the ones around here are pretty hilly.

Would anyone recommend Sundays and Cybele? I recently watched Rapture (1965), and I was very impressed by the performance of the young Patricia Gozzi.

I can highly recommend Rapture to any film buff. Such a haunting and beautiful film with a lush score. Gozzi is amazing in it, and it also features a young Dean Stockwell. The Blu-ray was released several years ago by Twilight Time; however, it's still relatively easy to find, and a copy can be found for a reasonable price.

I'm always surprised to find that Rapture is still up for sale, given how many of us have raved about it in recent years. It's such an incredible film.

Sundays and Cybele is an incredible film that does not get a lot of love here in the thread. It's an under-recognized treasure in the same way that Rapture is.

I think it makes you a bad person if you don't, at the very least, like Alice In the Cities.

...and probably a Communist.

I can highly recommend the Mimi Rogers version of Rapture.

...I cannot recommend it any more highly.

Thanks. I might see if I can find a copy before the B&N sale is over.

Another film that seems under-recognized to me is Marketa Lazarová. I had to watch that twice in one day in order to grasp the plot (and it's a long film), but it was so worth it.

Nah man, I don't consider my self a fan either. Couldn't stand Wings of Desire. I do like and want Until the End of the World, but that's just the sci-fi fan (and maybe the Sam Neill fan) in me crying out.

OK, good, Because I was worried.

BTW, was just cleaning and found a book entitled "Ingmar Bergman" with a screenshot from Persona on the front. I've owned this book for like ... I don't know, decades. I've never read it. It just got lost in the "pile." Looks like I have something to do after golf in the morning.

Is Jon Mulvaney still responding to questions/requests about packaging replacements? I've emailed him twice about the possibility of replacing my original combo Zatoichi set but haven't gotten an answer yet.

Gosh, speaking of things that belong on Criterion (or just on Blu-ray, period)...I'm not sure what kind of critical stock that movie holds these days, but it certainly made a splash in the '90s and Rogers's performance is great. Perfectly bizarre blend of Skinemax-esque smut (at least as I remember it -- I suspect revisiting it, it might not seem so explicit) with an uncompromisingly dark sensibility.
