Makes zero sense to start with part 3 if you don't know what the characters have been through. Don't ruin it and watch them in order.

I did receive mine immediately,

Had 2048, bought a $250 gift card, got to 2548 and immediately received the $50 gift certificate.

The odd thing is it still list as if I am only 202 points away from the next gift certificate (instead of 452), probably just a glitch in the system.

It took 4-5 hours for me to get the bonus points, but like others have mentioned the xxx points until your next certificate thing is still off.

It did indeed charge me tax on my gift certificates, but they refunded the tax amount back.
