Showgirls was the first movie I watched with my now wife. Just putting that out there. I'm sure there's a criterion tie in somewhere.

This is not the right thread to have this discussion, but it chaps my tail that the Blu-ray of Eurotrip does not have the unrated version of the movie. I'm probably going to break down and buy it anyway at some point, though.

According to this list, Showgirls is one of Jim Jarmusch's favorite films--at least it was one of the two films he loved from 1995.

He's either trolling or that's the most hipster thing in the history of hipsterism.

Either way...it's freaking awesome in an epic, biblical sense.

I can see Criterion putting it out.

Showgirls is such a bad movie but it's irresistible. I've bought this movie 3 times (twice on dvd and once on blu ray) due to buying them and trading them in because I can never make up my mind on if it's a movie I want to own. Then I think about Elizabeth Berkley nude through a very good portion of the film's runtime and change my mind. I feel like buying it again on blu ray now.

Hey SammyJankis,

Whatever happened in NYC a few months ago? I tried texting you about that Tree of Life event but I guess you didn't see my messages. Ha ha.

Did you end up going to it too?

Those WB scums! Our friends at ManU Fanclub are heading towards LA - to demand the unrated Blu-ray. Care to join?

Luckily for you it just got the 4k treatment (if I'm not mistaken.)

Has anyone heard anything about The Wedding March (1928)? I've heard rumors that Criterion supposedly licensed the rights from Paramount a few years back, but I've never heard anything definitive. It's criminal that this film has never even been released on DVD.

Showgirls may be a "bad" movie from a conventional point of view, but it's still clearly made by someone with a ton of talent. That's what makes it so watchable and not so easy to brush aside. The film has also built up a number of legit champions in the film critic community, such that it may no longer be considered a really "bad" movie anymore.

A number of older movies that are considered great now were considered pretty bad at the time of their release. Maybe Showgirls is one of these...

I know a decent amount of people with respectable taste that consider Showgirls a masterpiece. In the past few years especially I think it's gone through a bit of a reevaluation.

Announcements? The 15th is on a Sunday; Monday is MLK holiday, but they wouldn't announce on Friday the 13th! Would they? Thumbing their noses at the superstition gods that way might guarantee that upgrade of Border Radio that everybody's been asking for.
