There's nothing wrong with the Blu-ray of Miami Vice (2006) that I own, but I'd bet that there would be a whole lot of things right about a Criterion release of the film.

It's possible Arrow are trying to release the titles in the US, other than that I don't see a reason Criterion has not licensed some of their restorations of films already in the collection from them. They're all pristine. I'm still puzzled by the fact they haven't released the 4K restoration of Pickup on South Street as well. I originally thought they were holding out for Fuller's daughters documentary to use as a supplement, but that has been on Filmstruck for months while the UK blu is over a year and a half old. Of course not having to worry about region coding is the best and cheapest way to continue the hobby of collecting films, but it must be even more frustrating for those who are locked down when Criterion is seemingly just sitting on the ball. It's not a Le Samourai situation where no decent transfer is out there.

The region free UK Bluray is the theatrical cut, and its definitely worth getting. It goes without saying that the way that cut opens, thrusting you right into the nightclub job, is an all timer.

I'll definitely settle for any other Mann. The Keep, for one, is long overdue for a release.
