crap, so the $61 copy of pierrot le fou i won on ebay was the DVD version(seller listed it wrong).

obv i'm going to open a case, but i might as well go for the studio canal version and save $40 right?

EDIT: Don't really expect an answer to this, i think the consensus IS the studio canal version. im just venting

It may have been the same prints, just not cleaned up.

...is it safe to say that Zhou has given up his Every Frame a Painting side-gig for being a hired Criterion employee? So far, he's currently doing essay work on their FilmStruck page, and he hasn't updated on his youtube series for months.

Yeah, the 5-disc box Godard Collection is by far the easiest way to go. 5 films, including Pierrot, for $35. Region 2.

Except La Strada is coming-out remastered Region B next month, and both Ashes and Diamonds and Knife in the Water were released in Vol 3 of the Scorsese Masterpieces of Polish Cinema box set.

I was away for about 5 days but I'm back (from NYC)!

The announcements for August (my birth month) are unfortunately a bit underwhelming. Maybe Criterion took off a month and focused on a pair of upgrades but for me, the only one I'm interested in is: Sid & Nancy (because a blu-ray is better than a DVD)...and maybe Meantime (because I like Mike Leigh's movies).

Ironically, Gary Oldman stars in both films. "Criterion in August" is a big month for Gary Oldman fans.

As for today's announcements, nothing that I wanted, per se, but a couple of these announced films intrigue me, based on the feedback you guys have shared. And that's one of the reasons I am here, to learn, and be exposed to new things. So, thank you. I'm sure a few will work their way into my collection.
