I watched Gomorrah for the first time earlier. Good shit guys and gals, and the Criterion disc is beautiful. Recommended for crime/mafia buffs or those who simply enjoy beautiful cinematography. If you like City of God definitely give this a spin.

Just watched Gilda and I loved it. Probably my favorite Glenn Ford performance and Rita Hayworth was incredible. Excellent film. Thanks to everyone for discussing this film because who knows when I would've eventually seen it!

Finally got around to watching my Criterion blu of Two Lane Blacktop when I got homr tonight. Such a cool movie. Warren Oates! What can you say about Warren Oates? James Taylor is pretty cool considering he hadn't acted before. I was a little sad there wasn't any archive interviews with Dennis Wilson. He just seems like a super cool dude. Would have loved to heard his thoughts on the film.

I looked up Laurie Bird to see what other films she was in and found out she committed suicide at the age of 26. Apparently her mom had done the same thing too. Just so sad for a mom & daughter to be taken out like that.

OMG that's awful! I really wish I didn't know that, now.

As to the film itself, it's one that I definitely want to see. It sounds very interesting.

She, Oates, and Hellman also worked together on Cockfighter (not about guys crossing pork lightsabres!

) which is also a terrific film. I have the old Anchor Bay DVD which also contains the excellent Oates biography-Warren Oates: Across the Border. It would be great if this film (and extra) found it's way into the CC.

I picked up the Japanese BD of "Cockfighter" recently. It's a nice upgrade PQ-wise on the DVD. However, I'd gladly double dip for a CC edition. Great film.

In case it wasn't posted yet: Bunch of titles were recently listed as discontinued on WB's press site. Some of them already released by Criterion (Being There, Mildred Pierce, Pan's Labyrinth etc.), and the rest of the list is definitely something that Criterion would love to bring into their fold.
