For anyone who has a library that includes Kanopy Streaming Media, they recently added the Criterion Collection to their library, and Le Samourai is included. Several big city libraries offer the service, as do many universities.

Pshaw. I knew you were bluffing. And even if you thought you were serious, once Corman unloads his catalog and it starts getting HD releases, you'd be back in the saddle, if for no other reason than to see Angie Dickensen in 1080p.

You should have been here for his 'all killer, no filler' phase. He was going to really clamp down and limit himself to the absolute necessities.

That was something like 2300 discs ago

Wasn't it supposed to be one Blu-ray a month?

That is some sick obsessive shit. I understand.

I'm there, man.
If it's the same Rialto 35mm print I saw recently, don't get your hopes up. It was in pretty rough shape. I haven't seen any digital presentations, so I have nothing to compare it to, but a few other local cinephiles expressed disappointment.

Having just seen Out of the Past for the first time, I cannot WAIT for the next Warner Archive sale.

My collection is still "all killer, no filler."

In all seriousness, my gut instincts for making blind buys has been right on target 99% of the time.

The only filler Blu-rays in my collection are the ones like Superman Returns that are included in box sets with better films.

EDIT: There may be some filler movies in my still-unwatched stack, so I don't want to speak too soon.

Yes. When I first bought a Blu-ray player, I promised myself that I would only buy one Blu-ray a month.

I've stuck to that plan without fail. Right now, I'm on February, 2044.

With The Philadelphia Story and Le Samourai both being announced I'm seriously miffed by the lack of Ron Paul 'It's Happening!' gifs, but I suppose that can be reserved for the next title off the "whine" list.

Fixed.

EDIT: But seriously plans like that seem null and void in the climate of all these boutique labels popping up releasing lower tier classics and new finds combined with the impending death of physical media and great sales.

I'm a big fan of the philosophy, "The time that you enjoy wasting is not wasted time."

I'll elaborate on that to say, "The money that you enjoy wasting is not wasted money."

I don't have cable television, and I don't pick up any television channels by choice. My Blu-ray player is the only reason that I own a television.

In the rare instance that I actually do want to watch something live (Boston Marathon, Presidential debates, etc.), I can always find somewhere to stream it on the computer.

...actually, I think that I blew off the final Presidential debate to watch Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama. I'm a better and more multilayered enriched person for making that decision.

When you open your copy of Persona that you've watched several times in an attempt to verify the absence of Inner Print and the disc tray casually breaks.

I never had an issue with the release of films in DigiPack cases until recently. They're too flimsy and as this recent personal example demonstrates, do not last.

I've owned Persona since release and I've never had any issues. Tonight I opened it and I saw the "Press" piece of the disc tray completed broken off and sliding around the DigiPack.

I am OCD and store everything with care and then this happens.

Time to spend the rest of the evening looking at all of my cases.

I just watched my copy of Persona again the other night. Everything was copacetic. But jeez, do I understand the "looking at all of my cases" mentality.

Will any of Mae West’s films ever be considered for a Criterion release? General consensus: witty and entertaining despite being highly controversial. She only acted on 2 color films after 2x decades retirement from B&W movies.
