I love King Hu films. Anything with Bruce Lee would be super!

YES! ELECTION! FINALLY!

I love that Alexander Payne's UCLA thesis film is included in the special features.

Looks like this answers the question of weather Criterion would upgrade previously released titles with new/updated masters.

Other great films released under the label in the UK, some Ealing, Kind Hearts and Coronets ( of course), Whiskey Galore, Pink String and Sealing Wax, An Inspector Calls, School of Scoundrels, Hobsons Choice, Darling ( if you like Julie Christie its a must own ), Passport to Pimlico, Titfiield Thunderbolt, Brighton Rock and of course the previously mentioned The Belles of St Trinians Personal favorite of mine. Not to mention Fallen Idol which should be a Criterion release. Stupid StudioCanal/Lionsgate@!!

Agree 1000% and have mentioned it a few times. Its a great movie and given the blurry DVD I feel it could benefit the most from a HD transfer. Though given the DVD not so sure what elements exist for the film. Also feel Drunken Angel deserves a Bluray as well.

On the subject of Japanese films really would like to see a criterion release of The Human Condition. The Arrow release was fine, but I want a Region A Criterion release.
Can't agree enough with The Fallen Idol, I got to see it on TCM during one of there specials and loved it and was disappointed to see that it was with Studiocanal. I really want to see Darling. As I mentioned, I want to watch a lot of those films above to get a feeling of them even though I know they would all likely be films I enjoy.

Same for me. No interest in re-buying Monterey Pop. Slow month, as expected.

Edit: Oh yeah, the Olympic set is December, but aside from that it's mostly disappointing. Pleased to have Election though.

If that's it, I don't see anything I like. Anyway with the Lang silent set coming from Kino soon, a month without any new shiny Criterion releases will allow me to save money much needed for the Lang set. Anyway, I have October and November to stock up on some Criterion's.

December announcements...

In the immortal words of my first girlfriend... "That was all?"

Count me in for Election, but I'll probably wait for a sale.

What?!?! No Candles or Breakfast?!?!

Molly will be so pissed tonight!

We were planning on celebrating Christmas in the Hamptons... sipping champagne and unboxing these Criterion beauties. #FML

Disappointing end to the year, IMO. Did anyone see Election coming as a Criterion release? (hints, or general scuttlebutt?) Because that's one I didn't see coming. I do love that film, but I've seen it so many times and a Criterion release doesn't excite me as much as I'd expect. At this point, I'm more interested in the rarer/more obscure stuff that they release.

I'll pick up Election if it's part of the B&N sale, otherwise nothing stands out as something I'll get anytime soon.

Hong Chau dropped in a Venice interview for Downsizing that Payne was working on it.
