To top it off, there was a Coca-Cola advertisement from that time period (Japan several years after the end of World War II) that drew me more deeply into the story. It's a beautiful film!
I'm glad you loved the movie. Check it out again if you ever get the chance. Late Spring is one of my two favorite films of all-time.

The Italian release isn't a false listing but it still is possible for Criterion to release After Hours. They released McCabe & Mrs Miller while Warner released it themselves in other markets. Either way though, I'll just be happy to see it on blu-ray.

so Liv Tyler was in the Criterion closet yesterday.

I wonder what film they could be prepping that she was involved in.

Look at that bag! I think she may have set a new record for most movies taken...

Well, if Criterion don't set a limit, it's fair game. I'd probably take 50 or so if I had the privilege of going into their closet!

Nice haul. I wouldn't mind seeing a Criterion release of Cookie's Fortune.

True, but the classy thing to do if you're already a millionaire celebrity is not grab huge armfuls of free product.

Undoubtedly it's for a the long-awaited rerelease of Empire Records! If a beloved 80s teen comedy can get a rerelease, why not a beloved 90s teen comedy?

I think millionaire celebrities are used to receiving a lot of free products.

Or take the logical path by taking advantage of the position you're in. She's in a room filled with Criterion titles and has the option to take them for free. I don't care what your financial status is; the decision here is clear.

It just seems kind of greedy to take advantage but maybe she will offer to pay for some of those and only take a few for free, or maybe underneath the top few items we see she has the Olympic Set so it looks like she has more than she does. I'm really not judging her at all, they're just luxury goods not food out of starving children's mouths, so it's not that big of a deal.

So long as it's not Jersey Girl, I won't complain. Honestly though, I'm all for a sensual Italian summer and Stealing Beauty would make for an excellent addition to the Collection...and Bertolucci's The Dreamers joining the ranks would cause me no pain either.

As for the closet, if I had my shot I'd wait until the offices were about to close, lock myself in and tell "Jon Mulvaney" he can come retrieve me in the morning!

Maybe she was doing an interview and they paid her in Blu-rays in lieu of money.
