Has there been any indication how long the My Criterion access will be "Under Construction" on their website? My obsessiveness is killing me! I want to update the titles I've recently added to my collection!

God I hope so. Lee Chang-Dong is one of my absolute filmmakers working, and it's been way too long since Poetry. The fact that he's working in the land of Murakami makes me somehow even more eager for its release.

Finally received a bunch of films I'd ordered earlier in the year ferried to India by relatives / friends coming in from abroad (bless 'em), including a bunch of Criterions. Looking at it first hand, I'd say Silence of The Lambs is about one of the ugliest blu-ray covers I have seen (that's not random photoshop mugshots). It's like they hired some 15-year old who thinks "Red = EDGY!!!!" I like the look of that thick booklet though. NotLD digipack fares much better, although here booklet becomes leaflet. My Criterion-worshiping friend (who admittedly was kind enough to carry in my Second Sight package) made mild noises about how he finds the slimmer Criterion release of The Colour of Pomegranates more aesthetic and elegant than the (in his words) "thick blocky kinda ugly looking" SS package. I just laughed and said, "There, there, you'll get over it"

As a result Studiocanals vintage classic series has become one of my favorite labels. And not just because of Alec Guinness even though that's a large part of it. I could watch The Belles of St Trinians, Dead of Night and stuff like School for Scoundrels and An Inspector calls over and over. All great movies. Not to mention Brighton Rock, Hobsons Choice and many others. The Ealing movies are just icing on the cake.

I'd still buy a Criterion Ealing Studios boxset in a heartbeat if they ever get their hands on them. Never made sense to me to leave great movies languishing when they could be making money.

He really is amazing. I would love to be able to get a decent quality print of my avatar.

And of course I can't pass up any opportunity to link to this great article.

Does anyone else think Criterion will probably add "The Death of Stalin" to the collection through their IFC Films agreement?

Same here. I wish Studiocanal would at least allow Criterion to release select films.

I’ve so far resisted running through that poppy-field, but things like that tempt me. I did pick up the Lionsgate/StudioCanal Release of The Ladykillers.

Unfortunately, one of the forum members has commented on the subpar transfer used by Milestone.

Personally, I'm rooting for the upcoming Japanese release which includes English subs.

I've had the singles on my UK wish list for a while but had no idea there was a set.

And people wonder why I waste so much of my day on the internet. It makes wasting the rest of my day in front of the TV so much cheaper.
