Hickey had a long career and is probably best known as Don Prizzi from Prizzi's Honor, but his list of credits also included roles in Mikey and Nicky and Wise Blood.

And, oh, yeah, Tony Shalhoub and Thomas Haden Church. Good stuff.
My favorite is Valerie Mahaffey as Sandy Cooper, I love those episodes where she makes Joe look crazy and full of himself and nobody believes him. So good

Don't think it was mentioned, but Janus posted a picture of Kurosawa on the set of Ran on their twitter a couple days ago:

Has anyone picked up The Lure? Does it have an English dubbed track or at least English subtitles? Wondering if it's worth a blind buy.

It comes with English subtitles. English speaking labels would never release a non-English speaking film without subtitles.

859 days since the last Kurosawa film was released on blu-ray. Red Beard was restored years ago. Seven Samurai 4k scan has been available for a few years. Stacking their chips?

Top ten myself, but I'll also admit my bias. But will put Glass's score in the top ten without any bias.

That’s what I’m hoping! Staying quiet and getting those they didn’t already own together!

A Kurosawa set would be a dream come true. Next year will be his 110th birthday so a November release would be ideal. They did very well with the Bergman set so they know there's demand for this kind of big editions. Bring it on!

P.S. I really hope they include Ran.

I recently watched it several days ago and I feel an insatiable hunger to rewatch with the commentary. It may be top 5 for me. Not sure yet.

They also had a cryptic Tweet last year, so it looks like it very highly this will come out by them. It would be nice if this was a precursor to a Kurosawa box set so I can get his earlier films and The Bad Sleep Well. I finally couldn't wait longer and got the 2016 Region B version of Ran.

Elaborating on the previous information about The Cameraman which will be screened at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival:

Quote:
On opening night, Wednesday, May 1, there will be a screening of the new restoration of Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman. This exquisite 4k digital restoration was undertaken by The Criterion Collection, Warner Bros., and Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, and will have its world premiere at SFSFF. Accompanying the film will be composer Timothy Brock, who will conduct his original score performed by an orchestra composed of students of the SF Conservatory of Music.

EDIT: Also noticed this tidbit about the 1928 The Wedding March(which has been mention in this thread I believe.

Janus is touring the new restoration of 'The Cranes Are Flying'; expect Criterion to release a blu-ray upgrade later this year.

It's been listed on their website since December.

Is there any new information about the film touring? Or is it mere speculation?

Not that I don't want a Kurosawa box a la Bergman, but isn't that a picture from Kagemusha?

https://cinephiliabeyond.org/akira-k...lay-kagemusha/

BFI said it's from Ran (https://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/...aking-kurosawa), but that fence on the ridge certainly reminds me of Kagemusha.

Yeah, you're probably right. I googled the image and and did get results that said Ran (probably that same BFI one), so I figured it was. I should've dug deeper. Thanks

Night of the Hunter is a masterpiece. Robert Mitchum is the best at playing characters that are downright evil like this and Cape Fear. Lillian Gish is also superb in this. It's a pity that this was Laughton's only film since this is one of the best films ever.
