If it was OOP, it would say "OUT OF PRINT".

The DVD is still in print. They, surely just disabled the BluRay until they get another printing.

It's unlikely any Sony properties will go OOP as long as they're Criterion's distributor. Probably just between printings. At worst, they might be switching to a regular case.

Yeah, it's a bit of a mystery. Looking at the one graph, it says it's on the channel, but I don't have it to verify.

It's up on Amazon for rent and purchase on HD, but this film deserve a physical release. It would be quite awesome for Criterion to release a Chiba film and the only one he worked with Gosha and Nakadai one. Would love to hear both Tatsuya Nakadai's and Sonny Chiba's thoughts on the process of working with Gosha which apparently could be very complicated.

Is the Criterion Channel working with your FireStick? I couldn't get it to work with mine. And Criterion has said the FireStick is not compatible with the service. So I ordered a Roku that should arrive tomorrow.

It’s working brilliantly with my 4K firestick. Much faster than the Roku built into the TV.

I was at Barnes and Noble today and finally got the chance to see a copy of the Bergman boxset in person.

I was not prepared for what I saw.

It’s so...big.

It’s HUGE.

Just finished In the Heat of the Night. I had never seen it before, and wow, what an amazing movie. Almost went back to the beginning and watched it all over again. Looked great, too. A little inconsistent at times but overall one of the nicest looking Criterion discs I’ve seen.

If you want more Gosha out on Blu-ray e-mail Criterion at suggestions@criterion.com. They have a ton of his movies and it would be amazing to see them on Blu.

Bandits vs Samurai Squadron is another good one despite it being very disjointed. I don't remember the story, but apparently they fired a giant chunk of the cast and started the film over after a good chunk was already filmed or something of that nature. Still really enjoy it.

Heat Wave is another one I really like.

Honestly surprised we haven't gotten a Blu-ray of Goyokin from someone. Tenchu is fantastic as well, but apparently there are a lot of legal issues with that one.

Either way, my personal favorite Gosha film is Hunter in the Dark. Such a bad-ass film and unrelenting in its execution. A tragic tale with Shakespearian qualities.
