It goes down to $20 every 50% off sale, which is at least 4 times a year between the Criterion flash sales and B&N sales.

Any idea if one is coming up soon? Or when the last one was so I have kind of an idea on when next one will be? Thanks.

Actually the MSRP on this is $49.95. So it typically goes to $24.99 during the 50% off sales.

That's weird. I think it was only $40 when I bought it, which means I got it for $20. Actually, I just checked and I paid $24.99 from Amazon back in 2012. So I guess the list price on this one has always been higher.

So, if Freedomfighter can get it for $22.98 that's a good price.

A film I'd like to own on blu-ray is now on UHD. The Criterion edition is now off my radar.

I'd bet the next film that's currently in-print in the Criterion Collection that will receive a UHD from another company will be Dr. Strangelove.

I was going through and mentally checking what I want! I try and limit it to what’s available at my store, to help keep the numbers down!

I'm thinking of getting a membership for the next sale, so I will probably also try and get as much as I can in store. [I figure that if I'm gonna buy the Bergman set, the membership almost pays for itself.]

That seems like a reasonable guess. Just for fun, my guess would be "The Princess Bride". I think "Silence of the Lambs", "Benjamin Button", and "Blue Velvet" could all happen sooner or later too (not sure about their respective studio support of UHD, though).

It is so worth it if you buy a lot during the two sales. The only drawback is that the 10% off only works in store and not online. However, if they don't have one of the movies you want, just have them order it right there in the store. That's how I scored the Bergman set. $137 and they mailed it to my work place. Didn't even need to stop by the store to pick it up.

Yeah, I had a membership for a year, I think it would've expired two years back. I did it once and bought enough discs to make sure it was money well spent, and then I didn't renew because I didn't see the need. But now, after a few years, a few things have built up, and the Bergman set alone makes the deal a lot more obvious. I've got a nice tax rebate check sitting in the bank, I've already set a chunk aside for the next sale. (I'm even going to wait until halfway through the sale so that the membership should extend to a third sale.)

Another bonus, you can pair up the 10% with a 20% off mailer coupon on a recently released blu. Currently A Face in the Crowd is 30% off at $27.99. Take another 30% with mailer and membership and you can get it for under $20. Don't even have to wait for the July sale. You only get a couple mailer coupons a month, but they come in handy for something you just don't want to wait on if it was recently released.

As far as I'm aware the MSRP has always been 49.99.

It has been on sale at 19.99 many times though and maybe even a little lower during some of the Walmart Middle finger salutes at Amazon and a couple glitch sales at other sites. Costco used to sell it for 19.99 regularly back when they had a Criterion section. Of course back when BN allowed coupons with Criterions many people got it for $15-16 (OOP less if you used some of the GC deals). Unfortunately, Amazon price history at 2-camel don't include flash sales so the official lowest Amazon price is 20.99.

22.98 is a good price regardless

Sadly, gone are the days of Barnes and Noble stacking. I would patiently wait for the "B&N 50% off Criterion" sale. I used to scour the net for as many coupons that I could print. I would buy a blu-ray, normally priced at $40, using a 25% off coupon, using my membership discount of 10% off, charging it on my B&N MasterCard getting an additional 5% off, and wind up paying under $13. Oh, I would also make my purchase in the state of Delaware where there is no sales tax.

Oh, 'twas a glorious Time.

All those except Benjamin Buttons, which is Paramount, are MGM, so dont expect those to get UHD releases.
