Of course they will, anyone can read anything into X video if it serves their purpose. But at least the point of that video is not to doff their cap at the '4K is a scam' eejits, it's to explain WHY 2K is still a thing and for that I've got to applaud them.

I am a huge 4K and HDR fan.
(I am in no way in the "4K is sham" camp- I have an Oppo 203 and a Sony Z9D 4K TV and life is good!!)
I just thought it was informative material for people to see.
For example: I had no idea that the 4K setting on the Arri camera used on BLACK PANTHER just does an "in-camera" 2K upconvert rather than being true 4K.
This is good info to have - because it is better to know what you are truly getting when something says "4K".
And, btw- I have seen 2K upconverts that are great, and native 4K that isn't.
(You can have a film look bad in any format.)
All things being equal, I actually think the true revolution is in HDR (with advanced contrast, Luminously and color) and not the resolution bump.

No-one using the Alexa for a movie employs the in-camera uprez, they capture Arriraw at 2.8K or 3.4K Open Gate and do with it what they will in the DI.

Anyone know if the documentary Apollo 11 is coming to 4K blu?

It was just released digitally in 4K HDR and it’s absolutely breathtaking...

I mean this is a level of quality for such a historic event that is just incredible. The quality of the footage looks almost like 4K hdr film shot today.

Just broadcast on French television in HD. Of course the commentary was in French but all the actuality and actor reconstructions and spoken words in original language. Directed by a Frenchman. I agree visually stunning, brilliantly restored and upgraded to a really high standard. A magical two hours (well just under).
Nothing else Ive watched on the Moon landings has come anywhere close to this quality.

Quite a bit of footage in Apollo 11 is from 65mm negatives shot by NASA.
There’s 8K+ details in those shots, hopefully the 4K presentation is native 4K and downrezzed 8K.

Anyone heard anything about Flash Gordon (1980) as a potential release on 4K? Someone mentioned that a 4K presentation was shown at one of the comic cons around March.

As it's a StudioCanal movie (them owning the DEG library as they do) then a 4K remaster wouldn't be a surprise at all, given how much other 4K stuff they're putting out there and especially because it's the 40th anniversary next year. Universal have the North American rights though so there may not be a concurrent US release.

Since the merger what are people's thoughts on Fox's upcoming UHD releases.? Do we expect to get all the same movies on UHD that we would have gotten had there not been a merger? I find it a huge chunk of the movies that I'm interested in purchasing on UHD are from Fox. For example, I would have liked to have seen the Daredevil Extended Cut in UHD since we won't be likely getting a Daredevil movie for many many years. Does it seem likely that Disney would stop something like that from being released because of an eventual reboot?
I don't know if this is been discussed I was just curious.

I read a report the other day that Disney has now axed 250 fox movies that were on schedule. Also seen that they are "rebooting" Alien. Oh boy.

And how does that pertain to their catalog releases on UHD format?

Yeah the conglomerate is bad for everyone. I mean why would they take the extra effort to re-release older catalogue titles when they can just keep shoving alterations of Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Walt Disney Animation Studios feature films down everyone's throats? We all know how Disney operates by now. That's by being the pusherman for all sorts of merchandising surrounding their latest and greatest.

Fox's catalogue stuff pretty much dried up this past year or so, the odd gem like Alien aside. You had about as much chance of getting the Affleck Daredevil on UHD as finding cheese on the moon before the Disney buyout, never mind after it. Maybe Fox were holding back on UHD because of the protracted buyout process, who knows?

But the crazy thing is that Disney seem to have done a complete turnaround as regards UHD, they trod very carefully these last couple of years but are now in a hell of a rush to dump almost all their Pixar movies and entire MCU slate onto 4K disc. If anything I'd say that the odds for getting certain Fox franchise stuff out on 4K disc have now actually improved, I think Disney are going to want to get a return on Fox's properties sooner rather than later. The slew of reboots will come in time but for now they could make some $$$ by getting the rest of the Die Hard, X-Men and Alien franchises out onto 4K disc, say.

That's what I was hoping to hear! Sure would like to see the Extended Cut of the Wolverine on UHD. Obviously aliens as well. I won't even mention the abyss because it brings to mind that cheese on the moon analogy. And I forgot if Titanic is Paramount or Fox

Yes, 4K. I have no word on the audio yet.

\\edit: Dolby Atmos as well.

It's both: Par in the US, Fox (now Disnee) everywhere else.
