Question Army of Darkness -> Sept 15

Not that I want to start rumors or anything but for a big studio release, three weeks away and no artwork? This smells like a titlte that is being delayed. Plus, on DVDAF.com, for the longest time they had May 19 as the date of release but I noticed today that the release date has disappeared and where the studio name is it says "Not Announced": http://www.dvdaf.com/search.html?has...F*rgn_us*med_b

And on Amazon, it simply says that "this title has not yet been released" as opposed to them listing the release date as usual. Now, why would this be delayed? It's been available for some time in the UK, also has previously been available on HD DVD. Any thoughts? Any confirmations on this?

I've been afraid of it being delayed, so I haven't gotten my hopes up, but I hope we get confirmation one way or the other.

Lets just hope that they're at least working on a better transfer than what the HD DVD offered. Would be nice if they could include the Director's Cut as well...

Universal usually does not release catalog cover art until a week before release date. In fact, nearly every catalog title has had the art revealed about five days before the release date.

Just because there is no art does not mean there is release. Grease comes out next week and the back cover has yet to be posted on retailer sites. Bleak House and Dog Soldiers also do not have front cover art up yet.

Maybe in the process they'll remove the 1inch tick Edge Enhancement that the HD DVD had...

Default Army of Darkness ScrewHead Edition, Very Disappointed....

Hi! to all,

First of all I am a fan of "Army of Darkness" and I've lost count of how many different DVD version's I've owned, but I was still pleased to hear about a Blu-ray release.

However, I have to be honest and say that the Blu-ray version looks very disappointing on the extra's front, it already looks to me like there's bound to be another Blu-ray version released in the future because this "ScrewHead Edition" just don't cut it IMO.

With all the space you get on a Blu-ray disc I can't believe that the disc will not include both the Director's Cut & Theatrical versions, also because of the lack of the Director's Cut we miss out on the commentary track as well, plus the confirmed extra's look pretty poor, I for one am pretty gutted about this.

So what do the rest of you guys think?

Cheers!
JW

Anchor Bay did a pretty good job in the extras dept., well just have to wait and see what Universal gives us, It has the potential to be great, so let's not knock it 'til we see it,not sure if Universal will give us a 1.85 or 1.66,the ratio the Anchor Bay release had!

I will only buy for the director's cut, but it needs to be a film print transfer. You may remember the bootleg edition DVD, where all of the director's cut footage was transferred (badly) from a VHS tape. There is a region 2 director's cut DVD that is sourced from a beautiful print. If the director's cut on blu-ray is presented from that source, I will surely buy. Otherwise, I think I will pass.

It's the theatrical cut. These are the only features announced:

Creating the Deadites featurette
Alternate Ending
Theatrical Trailer
U Control - Production Photos

Watched my copy last night and saw this movie for the first time. Didn't really like it too much. I love Horror comedies, but I just don't see what so many people see in this one. I love the first 2 films though, and the remake as well but idk I might give this another watch later on but I just wasn't that into it.
