and showing that increased brightness is more significant to improving color (not only helpful with specular highlights), than many folks had realized until seeing becomes believing

ST 2094-40 (HDR10+) document is being revised somewhat because it doesn’t match actual implementations.
I think it's a bit strange that Samsung, and now Panasonic, are still claiming that HDR10+ is frame-by-frame, when others have stated that the dynamic metadata is only applied on a scene-by-scene basis.

See the description for this video:

I know they have, but, as you hint at, HDR is truly the tech cluster**** to end all tech cluster****s.

Some of that is due to misconception whereas a lot is related to the tribalistic, prejudicial behavior of ignoring people that they simply do not personally ‘like’. Which is why some AV message boards, forums and parts of forums are not at all interested in truth or facts. My advice is to always be able to back up what one says with documentation….and not from marketeers. That is a basic tenant of real science.

To add to what Carolyn mentioned in the piece, a little history on Rod ‘openEXR’ Bogart…..
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post11466514
although due to its age, that link may not still be viable, so for those having interest, just google openEXR and ILM.

for a definitive answer, contact Yeong-Taeg Kim - https://www.linkedin.com/in/yeong-taeg-kim-a84a1224/ . He’s a nice guy, a true SME on this evolving topic, and may well respond to your request.

HDR post prod is an expanding field as various companies are/have been (e.g. https://www.digitalfilmtree.com/) looking for skilled people to architect HDR post production automation in the cloud.

Ha. That "doesn't match implementations" phrase passed me by the first time. For that to happen, implementations would have to actually exist! Surely no-one still believes the canard that Amazon are currently streaming HDR10+?
The only claim that they are streaming HDR10+ came from marketeers, to use your word, and with nothing to ever back it up.

Actually I was referring to revision of things by Samsung of a highly technical nature (ex. BezierCurveAnchors, DistributionMaxRGB, etc. with regards to the documentation for 2094-40[HDR10+]), not as to whether end users are currently receiving that particular dynamic metadata solution with some content thru their latest TVs. I don’t know that as I don’t have an Amazon/Samsung combo at home, you’d have to ask someone like ray if folks are finally getting HDR10+ with their episodic shows. So I defer to those folks.

I will say though that I agree with you in that the lack of transparency with private demos and meetings (ex. https://twitter.com/SCENARIST_LLC/st...61616232202242 )
has not helped in promoting the HDR10+ cause.

Fascinating stuff to get inside the minds of several DPs like that. Will now post that in the HDR is crayons thread.

Prophetic discussion from March 2015 –
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post10502760

now revived 3½ years later on your guys’ ‘crayons’ thread? As an aside, to give credit where credit is due, I hope folks know/recall where the ‘crayon’ analogy was first used (AFAIK) on stage with a panel - https://vimeo.com/131442291#t=33m46s .

P.S.
Several months ago Claudio also spoke at an event at the Dolby screening room on Vine which I attended. I’ll dig that one up later for you and others who may be interested.
