I didn't read all 48 pages. But for me, having gotten the bitstream on my receiver working lately has given me some special times. Pumping full lossless (where relevant for disc) into my system is a joy.

Since getting my 50 inch neoplasma 3D display, coincided with my lossless and LFE specs getting correct. So its an overall satisfying experience in HT now. Amazing moments since my setup got good?

- Opening sequence of LOTR : Fellowship
Specifically when sauron is vanquished and the "shockwave" shot comes, the LFE 'deep woosh' is freaking awesome and this moment pumps me up for the whole movie to come. I heard it on DVD with a 5.1 setup but it didn't sound that good back then ; Now, it is total immersion.

- The Dark Knight (all of it? :P)

I always loved the film but now with its soundscape I adore and will likely rewatch the title monthly

- Shawshank Redemption

All the prison "assembly" scenes where the inmates walk to and from their cells together. Plus the signature scene where andy comes to shawshank. From the moment the Thomas Newman score comes in with Morgan's voiceover until they get into the entrance cage. All that is my sound/visual example of "movie magic" to set a mood

----------------------------
Other

- Fifth Element.. The part with the opera (someone else mentioned) and I totally agree!
- Apollo 13.. The launch sequence (whole build up)
- Final Destination.. The bit with the "fan" where its all creepy totally gets me now YAY lossless.
- Flight of the Phoenix.. The crash landing! Just outstanding. Plus the "angel" sequence.
- Men in Black.. This movie on Blu was like seeing it for the first time! Just crazy fun and impacting sound.
- V for vendetta.. Hugo Weaving's voice especially in the start 20 mins.

I would really add Nightmare Before Chrismas.
The clarity of that soundtrack and surround use is best I have ever heard.

Just curious if anyone has an idea about this ... im looking for is a repeating sequence , like at a main menu or game loading screen , with surround affects , bass , the whole bit . To tweak my sound settings/listening modes , theres so many on the Onkyo 706 i get thru a couple and i give up . Was trying with COD Black Ops but need something more .....

Thanks

Chris

Here's one. The Pacific, Episode 8 towards the last part. I just got done watching it and it gave both of my subs a workout. Heavy bass! I love it!

HTTYD is the only movie I've watched out of the list you mentioned, and I agree. That movie is one of the movies I'd like to show off regarding Audio.

Lots of good one's out there. Out of all my BD's there are two that stand above the rest for sound quality. I wouldn't say the entire movie sound was the best of all of them, but it's close. They do, however have the best sounding chapters.

1. The Hulk
2. Rambo

I just watched/recorded Fighter Pilot : Operation Red Flag on the RadX HD channel . It was in DD5.1 , amazing sound and picture (was an Imax prod back in 2006 ) . Was wondering if anyone knows of any documentary style war/jets/tanks blu-rays out there like this one ?

Top 5 War BR's ....?

Resident Evil: Afterlife is pretty damn amazing. Thunderous bass and constant surround action. Amazing track.

HELLBOY II - 7.1 Audio (DTS-HD MA), Very Detailed track & VERY VERY LOUD!!!! Usually my movies at -18 to -20 are loud enough, but this one I have to put at -26 to -28 or so. One of my TOP DEMO movies by far.

(would like to check out the Tim Burton "Nightmare Before Christmas" with it's Dolby True-HD 7.1 track, but at $27.99 for a movie that's just 76 minutes long, that isn't happening for a LOONNNGGG time... )

Agreed. The last 15 minutes of Rambo was amazing in terms of sound quality.

Agreed with both of you I watched Rambo Extended Cut last night and WOW! The whole movie had great moments/scenes, but from when the big bomb goes off until the action stops near the end is just amazing audio!

How come a lot of people overlook War of the Worlds? It's easily a top 3 demo disc, the audio will downright give you a concussion.

I dont think they are WOTW in my mind is just one of those "everybody knows its awesome" discs. Discs like WOTW, Cloverfield, The Incredible Hulk, etc......I just assume are known reference standard type discs by most on here.

It makes incredible use of your surround sound system.
This can also be found at the beggining of Indiana jones and the crystal skull. Very awesome! My top at the moment is probably The Pacific.
