I just got a surround sound so I haven't tested any good movies on it, but I agree with Killzone 2

it seems that each time i see surround, i always associate 'Master and Commander'. Again my default movie.

Just a great film for showcasing your sound. And its so easy, just put the Blu-ray in and let it play from the beginning. In less than ten minutes your viewers will be yelling "Holy $#!^" It is just awesome.

What about the tunnel scene in I-Robot? That scene is considerably better than the house scene IMO.

Two of my reference discs are:

1) Daredevil (DTS-HD MA): The sound design of the whole movie is just unreal, but the highlight is the fight in the bar. Excellent surround sound steering, thumping bass. The best example of home theatre sound I have ever heard can be found in this movie

2) Butterfly Effect (DTS-HD MA) : Any of the scenes when Evan has flashbacks. The first time I watched this movie the original flashback scene almost scared me out of my chair. The rest of the sound design in the movie is fairly tame

2 more demo worthy moments I had this weekend.....

1. Domino....The whole disc is fantastic for audio, but the final battle takes it up a notch even over the rest of the film and this last act is awesome demo material!

2. The Rundown opening club scene.....pure demo material IMO.....sounds and feels like you are actualy in a club!

I posted this in another thread just now, but Transporter 3 was littered with ear candy throughout. The scene where the Audi drove in Franks house toward the beginning though takes the cake. The bass was brutal and the sound of debris was very crisp. To top it off its something the viewer isn't particularly expecting in an otherwise routine quiet scene, so it adds to the shock value.

Silent hill.

The sound effects in this movie is crazy. bass hits loud and hard.

One reference scene i like is when the pyramid head is trying to get into the elevator with the girl and the cop. you can feel when he was coming, bass was rumbling like crazy. his sword ripping trough the elevator door, bugs crawling in, the cop firing her gun, the cop stepping on one of the bugs, that whole scene was loud and clear. the bass in that scene was just amazing.

My favorites:

The first ten minutes of Master and Commander. For those of you who do now own this BD, get it..... and no, we are not kidding.

War of the Worlds.... When the alien machines first start appearing from under the ground.... Whew!

U571..... Depth Charges.... If you do not have a quality sub, be careful not to play this too loud. Your sub may die a premature death.

There are many more films with great sound, but when I want to show off my home theater, and my SVS sub, these are the three BD's I use.
