Thanks. I forgot about that. I always remember the canonballs and wood splintering, but forgot about when they are below the deck. I need to pick that one up. I keep hearing good things about "The Orphanage", I will need to check it out.

Another similar effect, although it is not on Blu, is the 2004 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Not a great movie, but very cool when Jessica Biel is in the basement, and you hear Leatherface running around upstairs.

You know, the more I think about it, these types of effects are what I love about surround sound. Don't get me wrong, I really like LFE, but I need to seek out some more of these types of scenes. If anyone else can think of any, please post.

If you like acoustic guitar, check out Jewel....sounds as good as the other 2 you mention IMO as far as the acoustic guitar.

What about 3? I thought 3 clearly had the best track of the 3 movies....that house scene!

The thing that is great about the Orphanage is, its NOT in your face. Its not loud. Its sooooooo subtle I was looking behind me to check for .

(I watched it at midnight, alone)

There are alot of good tracks mentioned, I own the majority of the blurays that people listed. Im shocked that only one person in this thread mentioned Kung Fu Hustle. The Chinese PCM track sounds unbelievable. Leaps and bounds better than the English Dolby Digital track. The fights scenes with the "Masters" during chapters 8 and 9 have some of the best "fine" detail you will ever hear. Its not rife with gunfire and explosions but the LFE still gets plenty of work and there is alot of separation in the field. The two chapters I mentioned dont need to be listened to a loud volumes to appreciate, but sound that much better when you do.

The movie is entertaining and underrated. If you can tolerate subtitiles its worth a watch and listen. The picture quality isnt bad either its an extremely "colorful" movie with more of a comic book feel.

Exactly!!

What sets this track apart is that you literally can hear every detail of the mix. Nothing's masked or muddled. The panning effects are exceptional and at no time does the surround field feel collapsed. The dialogue is perfect and the score is excellent. The moments when the bass is called upon it really delivers!

Damn good movie too!

True that scene and the Alcatraz destruction scenes will test the system. I don't think the dialogue and score were rendered as well in 3 as I found on 2, thus the reason I put 2 above it.

I just finished watching Daredevil and I think it is my new king for AUDIO.

I can't believe how amazing it sounded. In fact I couldn't believe how much better the movie was with the Director's cut. 30 more minutes of footage but also a much better edited film... wow it was the movie I hoped it would be when it came out.

Shoot 'Em Up and Die Hard 4.0 hit home for me. I especially love how deep the bass is in Die Hard with the explosions and what not.

But I have to add Cloverfield to this as it really puts you in the action.
