What do you people think about the AQ in Pearl Harbor? I cant rent it anywhere near so i would need to buy it. But as the movie itself is quite bad are the fighting scenes worth the money ?

Yeah the movie sounds awesome. And I don't know if it was just me, but I'm pretty sure the movie gets louder and louder, like after the 1/2 way mark. I remember a few of the flack parts in the Doolittle Raid are pretty gnarly

I bought Pearl Harbor back during the old BoGos solely for the Climb Mount Niitaka scenes and the attack from Shangri-La, not to mention the Battle of Britain sequences.
That hour or so of sonic goodness is the only reason I have that film. I've yet to see it, lol. |

Everything is pretty good... except! (and it's like this on CD as well) the score seems somewhat muffled and muddy in spots to me. Almost like the high end got cut off. Other than that it's very, very good.

I recently watched The Nightmare Before Christmas and that Blu just has phenomenal AQ. Every song sounds beautiful (although I don't have a 7.1 HT, its still perfect). Even when voices are heard, you can tell which direction it's coming from, giving you a sense of actually being in Halloweentown.
Also a reference Blu is Watchmen. I just watched it and I must admit that it sounds better with every viewing. Each explosion vibrates the house and each window shatter is frighteningly realistic. |

Well i just have to hear the fighting scenes in Pearl Harbor so i ordered it from amazon. Really looking forward to it.
![]() For me the best sounding movies are: 1. Star Trek & Watchmen -Just incredible soundtracks overall, they sound as good as they look. 2.The Dark Knight -Really dark and heavy with lots of bass. 3.Transformers 1&2 -Full of really cool moments that sound amazing. 4. Wall-E, Rattatouille & Cars -Full of subtle sounds and a lot of detail but also has some serious power when needed. 5. Bladerunner -Well what can i say, the ambient music in Bladerunner is real magic. 6. Band of Brothers -Many amazing battlescenes with good use of surrounds. You really go for cover when MG42 starts firing. 7.Hellboy 2 -Some really low bass coupled with great surrounds. 8. Top Gun -I think this BD has the heaviest bass at the moment. When the planes are taking off from the carrier, its like being at a top fuel drag race. 9. Kill Bill 1&2 -Just great sound design overall. One ticket to Tokyo, please. 10. Sin City -Lots of great ambiense and power. Other great sounding movies are Behind enemy lines, Independence day, King Kong and Terminator 2. But there are still two movies that are unbeaten in pure power and bass which arent on blu-ray yet. Well maybe Master & Commander comes close. Those are The Incredibles and War of the Worlds. Those tracks are outright dangerous. If you havent tried those DVDs yet i dare you to go atleast rent them. But i have to warn you that those movies might be a bit too much for many subwoofers if listened on loud volumes. The first encounter with aliens in WotW will break your floor apart and then rip your roof off (that might just happen to your neighbors house also). And in The Incredibles when a spaceship is launched the crackling sound of burning fuel will test the limits of your subwoofer. Really fun and scary stuff. ![]() |

Tell me about it... I watched Taken the other night and didn't realize how strong the AQ was, especially the LFE. I then watched the first 2 Bourne movies and they seemed tame compared to Taken.
