Yes, and AVS has a thread on this which is interesting. Check it out....

As far as which movies have the best LFE "in practice", that will be different depending on who you ask since there are so many variables depending on the room/person/setup/frequency response/equip capabilities.

Of course there are some titles that are generally considered "reference" by most as far as LFE such as WOTW, Cloverfield, TIH, Tron Legacy, FOTP (Plane Crash), Airbender, Hot Fuzz, Matrix 2 and 3, HTTYD, etc.........

Awesome, exactly what I wished for! Love LFE, right now i'm listening to my favorite music tracks with Spectrum Lab to see just how low they're going, fun software.

I think Thor when its released is going to take some beating, going on what my ears were subject to in the cinema.

Blow Out (Criterion) has amazing sound, and it's 2.0! Sound is also an important aspect of the film's plot. Considering the film itself, audio and video quality, and supplemental features, easily one of my personal favorite discs.

It came out over here in the UK last wed. Watched it twice already and i must say its the best Marvel film i have seen and i love the first Iron Man and Spiderman 2, but this as the fun factor when the action stops which i found to be lacking in most other marvel films even in Iron Man.

In terms of realism sound design & dynamics, is there any movie that rivals Master And Commander?

Yes, tons.

M & C on blu ray has the very low end chopped off Big dicussion about this on AVS months ago with comparisons to the DVD (FR charts). Bummer since the DVD was always a reference piece which unfortunately did not move over to the blu ray.

Considering the butchered dynamics on the low end of M & C (blu ray version at least........the dvd is killer), there are a bunch of blu rays that beat it such as Star Trek 2009, Tron Legacy, WOTW, Cloverfield, The Incredible Hulk, FOTP, 9, The Incredibles, HTTYD.......just to name a few.
