I listened to both editions of Casino Royale on blu-ray disc.
The original one with 5.1 uncompressed LPCM audio sounds better.
It just sounds fuller, more detailed and deeper more powerful bass.
It seems that I'am not the only one who feels this way:

The Audio: Rating the Sound:
As far as comparing the PCM and TrueHD tracks, I whipped out my old 'Casino Royale' Blu-ray, and picked three scenes (the opening credit sequence with the Chris Cornell title tune, the foot chase and the airport interception), and did some back-to-back comparisons. After flipping between the two Blu-rays about ten times, I would give a very slight thumbs up to the PCM in terms of low bass. The airport sequence in particular felt ever-so-slightly more robust in the bottom on the PCM than the TrueHD. I also thought the title song sounded somewhat wider in the mid-range on the PCM, at least when I had the sound blasting at a very high volume. In all honestly, however, these results reveal such a negligible difference it could just as easily be subjective hearing. If nothing else, the two Blu-ray versions of 'Casino Royale' will provide nothing but more fodder for the ongoing PCM vs. TrueHD debate.

Funny how managed to miss the most important part of that review.

Anybody here have the 7.1 uncompressed LPCM audio version of Black Hawk Down?
If so how would you rate the "experience?"

Black Hawk Down was originally recorded in 8 channels. Is the 7.1 mix a real 7.1 mix that uses all 8 channels or is it just a pseudo 7.1 mix that matrixes the side surrounds into the 2 rear channels like most Lionsgate releases?

You cannot post without relating to LPCM, get a friggin room .

What is this title you are talking about? To my knowledge there is only the 5.1 LPCM and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio releases. I am sorry to tell you, but LPCM soundtracks are rare for new releases nowadays.

'Black Hawk Down' was a 8-channel SDDS mix, meaning that five of the channels were up front behind the screen, not four in the rear as 7.1 is now a days.

I know this thread is like 5 years old LOL, but i just came across it. The Incredible Hulk (2008) is by far the BEST, Loudest and most powerful Blu Ray i have heard to date. The sound mix is absolutely SICK.

It is the perfect demo disc for PQ and AQ. That movie was made for HD in every possible way. Even the 35mm sequences look almost as sharp as the IMAX scenes, which is definitely a plus.

No argument there. It looks beautiful, it sounds amazing, and the Daft Punk soundtrack certainly doesn't hurt.

Ive seen The Incredible Hulk mentioned so many times, but I dont get the big deal.
Only the campus scene has perks.
Most of the movie is people talkin.
And the end fight wasnt that big of a sonic deal IMO.
World War Hulk sounds better....IMO.

Apocalypse Now definitely deserves a mention.

What did our blu-ray.com reviewer think of the AQ?

"If it were possible to give Apocalypse Now's DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track six stars for a rating, I would."

I just bought and setup a really nice 5.1 surround sound setup about a month ago so I can finally contribute to this thread lol.

Here are my top five audio choices from the movies I have watched:

1. Tron
2. Matrix Trilogy
3. Saving Private Ryan
4. Coraline
5. Rambo

So hard to choose, many many great other movies, Cloverfield has some scenes with MASSIVE clear bass

Man, I was just going to post that. Saw this two days ago and it blew my socks off. Not literally, of course. Definitely a must if you have the set-up.

A few months ago I re-watched Cloverfield with a friend who hadn't seen it. Crazy/Awesome bass! Definitely a great track.
