HDMI interface of HDR TV
![]() => HDR10: . HDR10 Media Profile: "A TV, monitor or projector may be referred to as a HDR Compatible Display if it meets the following minimum attributes: . Includes at least one interface that supports HDR signaling as defined in CEA-861-F, as extended by CEA-861.3. . Receives and processes static HDR metadata compliant with CEA-861.3 for uncompressed video." https://www.cta.tech/News/Press-Rele...-Displays.aspx . HDMI: "April 8, 2015 – HDMI Forum, Inc., a non-profit, mutual benefit corporation, today announced the completion and release of Version 2.0a of the HDMI Specification. The specification has been updated to enable transmission of HDR formats, which provide enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. The HDR-related updates include references to CEA-861.3, CEA’s recently published update of HDR Static Metadata Extensions." https://hdmiforum.org/hdmi-forum-inc...specification/ => HEVC HLG: "The HDMI Forum has confirmed that the extension of the static metadata signaling to include HLG can be utilized under the existing HDMI 2.0b Specification. This means that HLG Video Transport functionality may be implemented on HDMI 2.0b compliant devices." https://hdmiforum.org/specifications/notices/ => Dolby Vision: . HDMI 1.4 "We had anticipated the challenge of getting high dynamic range (HDR) and HDR metadata over HDMI interfaces. So what we did was develop our own technology that tunnels all the way through HDMI interfaces back to version 1.4, including the signaling and the metadata. So for televisions that have HDMI inputs and present Dolby Vision signals, as a requirement from us, the HDMI inputs have to support Dolby Vision in addition to the on-board OTT apps that support Dolby Vision and in order to make that work we developed in-band signaling as well as the ability to send 12-bit video over what is effectively an 8-bit interface." @DanBa, thanks for posting these latest charts on the advancements in our beloved new 4K HDR TV System!
I believe we'll see some traction on the implementation of Technicolor's new HDR, SL-HDR1 at NAB in April 2019. The application will be used with some of the latest Low, mid and high power UHF TV Broadcast transmitters equipped with ATSC extremal encoding devices. Not sure, but I'm hopeful this new HDR standard will also be delivered with ATSC 3.0 over IP. |

Nice categorizing ^, much easier to read than those nauseating Venn diagrams. What’s also significant to the final outcome is that it seems content creators are now - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post16119076
more inclined to follow ITU-R BT.2408, page 3 Table 1 of the pdf file. |
