this will be my last time talking about this so here's what my brother said

If I hooked up the Blu-ray player to the receiver first, no 4k since the receiver doesn't support HDCP 2.2.
Already using ABC. That's how I can get sounds from the TV to the receiver for 4k

so it seems he foul me and I guess I just need to get a receiver that has 4k passing though

I have to suffer for time being hearing sound coming out of tv when watch bluray player on receiver

Use and HDMI from the player to the tv, then use the HDMI audio only port from the blu-ray player to your receiver.

Boom, 4K picture with surround sound. That's how mine's hooked up.

HDMI from player to TV, HDMI cable from HDMI Audio only port from player to AV receiver.

Yes, I have been able to view my 4K copy of TDKR. You MIGHT have received a faulty disc.

I’m tired of the consistent handshake problems and or the flat out freezing of this player. I ordered the oppo 203 today.

Disconnect the player from the internet. My 1000es was having consistent random freezing and haven't had one since disconnecting the internet over a week ago. Can't remember if it was on this thread or over at the AVS forum that someone mentioned this.

I've owned four players, two Pannys, the Sony 800 and an OPPO, and none of them had as much trouble with locking up during playback as my OPPO does...

I have issues with the player going to a black screen or the tv showing "No Signal" from time to time. When it works, the player is great. Unfortunately, it is also wonky af. I often just say screw it, and watch blu rays in my PS3. I never had to fiddle with that to get a disc to play.

Do you have a certified 4K hdmi cable; a Mono cable perhaps? My player hasn't lost signal yet and it used to happen often with my old sony with non-certified HDMI cables.

Yes I do. I believe it's a GE cable that I purchased after buying the player.

Mine hasn't either and I have played Dunkirk, Cars 3, and Men in Black since I got the player for Christmas. I got some 18 GB HDMI cables to go with the player since I am sending video to my LD 4K LED and audio is going to my receiver since it's about 5 years old.

Do we know yet when the successor to this player comes out? I have the Samsung at the moment, and wish I had gone with the Sony instead, but I’d rather just hold out at this point for the 2018 version which hopefully should have Dolby Vision.

My guess is we get a first look at CES.

Since I picked up an Xbox One S at launch to serve double duty as a UHD disc player, I've been waiting for a stable standalone player that was DV-capable. As this price, and given that the Apple TV 4K is keeping the DV fires burning, I'll wait until one drops in my lap much like this Best Buy, which debuted at $399:

As far as performance so far, I give the nod to the UBP-X800 for overall UHD picture quality, along with the ease of a stand-alone player, but I will add that the XB1S played every disc I threw at it without a hiccup and hasn't froze or crashed once in close to 18 months of usage.

I had read somewhere that there's another version of the X800, labeled as UBP-UX80, that includes a high-speed HDMI cable. Not sure if there are any other unique features or differences in the hardware build though. Has anyone seen this model in-store?

Love this player. Its super quick in loading every single disc. I had complaints before that this didnt include a screensaver but when I think about its a very minor nitpick I had.
