I believe this was the version that was sold at Costco.

yeah I just notice this I asked 4k ultra bluray player and everybody told me not get a lg or a phillips on here get this one I told my brother weds that I wanted this

little did I know there's no screen saver nor auto shutdown turn off feature

no way to take it back best buy I can live with but its a 1st time owning a bluray player much less a 4k doesn't have a screen saver on it

then again I have to suffer next few months not getting good sound due to receiver my brother gave me thurs onyko tx nr626 which doesn't have HDCP 2.2 aka true 4k signal and I have to rely on getting sound from tv

bluray isn't hookup on receiver due to that I hate this no good sound only tv dts or dolby 5.1 meh

surely there is a cheap receiver don't cost a lot that passes 4k be nice if I get one feb or march but prob won't be until birthday in april

4 months of torture yes I got good picture soundwise negative

Use both HDMI outputs. HDMI 1 to TV and HDMI 2 to receiver.

Yeah, as bguzman stated above.

If we're understanding you correctly, it sounds like you'll be spending money when you don't have to. Run the video to the TV (X800's primary HDMI Port --> TV) and run the audio to the receiver (X800's Audio Only HDMI Port ---> Receiver)? Lossless audio, no waiting, money saved. The X800 has two ports for precisely this reason.

Plenty of questions have been tabled earlier on the thread, time spent, responses given including using the two HDMIs as it is being suggested now again but there is no advance. Seems like a too hard basket for me.

Definitely sounds like a three man job. You hold one end of the HDMI cable, get someone else to hold the other end and a third guy to hold it somewhere in the middle. If the cable is longer than 2ft you might need some more guys. Be careful.

I'd like to disconnect my X-800 from the internet too but I can't find the option on the menus of my European model. I know I can't get firmware updates with internet off but I check the updates on the Sony Website and I ALWAYS update my player via USB. If somebody could please help me out...

Regarding the Dark Knight discs on this player, these are 3 layer 100 Gig. discs aren't they? I experience the same with the first two discs of Futureworld which are 100 Gig discs from Warner. I cleaned the third disc with a microfiber cloth and ammonia (yes, the one for cleaning floors, it's not abrasive and it wipes away any residue, works miracles with greasy/oily dirt) and guess what, the microfibre cloth ended up incredibly dirty with a dark grey residue that obviously came from the disc. Once cleaned the disc played flawlessly, not a single freezing. I did the same with the other two discs, they were also dirty and left the same kind of dark grey residue. I've tested them by playing them while doing other stuff and no freezing. Give it a try, clean your disc before going for a refund, what do you have to loose?

I just went to reconnect to my router and put the wrong password in. It then fails to connect.

Just try to setup a wired connection (without the internet cable connected) and let it failed. Leave it as is.

I installed my unit yesterdsy swapping it in place for my old Sony BPD-S360. Thus unit is heavy and feels solid conveying a sense of quality construction. I watched Blade Runner on BluRay using the 4K upscaling on thhis unit and it works really well. A more detailed review will be coimg out as I use it more .

All 4K Blu-ray movie releases should have a cleaning kit that comes with them.
Or @ the very most, a card that tells us which detergent soap, ammonia, javex whatever to clean the toilet bowl or the kitchen dishes or the dirty laundry, to use and the type of chamois to dry them after a complete rinse.

And, they should all include a 4K HDMI cable in the box with the 4K Blu-ray players. ...All of them. That way they would insure the success of the new format and have less returns.
I mean there's no use to include a Mickey mouse analog stereo pair of interconnects.

Happy New Year!

Curious, what do some of you have the Sharpness setting at on your TV with this player? I have a Samsung, set at 30 right now (0-100).

Done! Thank you! I notice the player is a bit faster, more responsive to commands,or may just be my imagination...

I thought it was a bad batch So I took them back and bought the movies individully and the first 4 disc's wouldn't play

Swapped the player over for the same model and the disc's still wouldn't play

So I went to ray white audio armed with the disc's he tested them out with the oppo UDP-203 and the played fine

I bought his last Oppo UPD-203 and got home packed up the sony hooked up the oppo and haven't looked back

early on, this thing was getting great reviews and word of mouth, now, it has swung the other way and so many people are bad mouthing it to no end.

did the players just start all going to hell or something? the only reason I didn't get this is because my first 4K tv is DV compatible and I want a player that supports DV that's why I didn't get this one. but, from the last bunch of pages in this thread, the lack of DV hasn't mattered as much as so many things going wrong with the player.

guess I'm glad I didn't get one.
