I've had mine for a while now and it has worked well for everything I used it for. Not sure what's causing all the problems but mine was a steal at $150. I plan on using the X800 in my HT until all this Dolby Vision stuff plays out. Then I will move it to the living room and put the new UHD player, what ever that may be, in the HT. One of my favorite aspects of this player is the fact that it plays SACD and DVD-A discs. You got to spend 3X the cost of this player to get a UHD player that does the same. ![]() |

I did played the original Blade Runner on BLURAY which is a very dark movie with lots of night and dark scenes. Black resolution was excellent in these dark scenes. I don't own any 4K discs as of yet but I will remedy this situation in the near future. |

The sharpness setting is generally not something you should change from its factory default. Usually its either '50' or '0' depending on the scale the manufacturer of your TV has chosen. Sonys are set at '50' out of the box, not sure about Samsung but if the scale is 0-100 then you probably need to be at '50' too. Unless you want a softer picture?

BB won't let you see the price of this player unless you put it in your cart then give your name and email address, because they claim it's so low that sony won't let them advertise it. many people like me don't want to do this song and dance and give out personal info just to see a price of this player.
i'll just stop in the store later this week and see the price in person. |

I've also had this since it came out, and I've also had no issues with it.
Well, that's not exactly true. Had issues with Fox Blu-ray titles getting all pixelated once in a while, but I notified Sony and point them in the direction of other people experiencing a similar issue, and they fixed it pretty quickly. |

(I forgot to add this) This player is equipped with the "Grace Notes" App so when I play a CD, it displays the album cover, tracklist, and name of songs. Its really kind of cool. I had to turn on the app as its default is off. |

It happened few times already, and it will happen again, keep an eye open for it. Street Price: $250; Deal Price: $150 If you're a movie buff with exacting image quality standards, this is a nice opportunity to pick up a recommended 4K Blu-ray player, the Sony UBP-X800. Usually $250, it has fallen drastically in recent weeks. We first saw it at $200, and now it's all the way down to $150. It likely won't drop any further, so this is a great price and one at which it is well worth grabbing one. The Sony UBP-X800 4K Blu-ray Player is our top pick in our guide to the best 4K Blu-ray player. Chris Heinonen wrote, "The superior image scaling of the Sony UBP-X800 was especially impressive, which is important because most people will use this player to watch far more DVDs and regular high-definition Blu-ray discs than 4K Blu-rays. When converting SD and HD images to 4K, the Sony introduced fewer scaling artifacts and did a better job interpolating curves and other shapes—the only player that did better costs twice as much as of this writing. And while most people don't need yet another streaming device, the Sony supports the major services and has a customizable interface. It also has some convenient features, like the ability to send audio directly to your Bluetooth headphones. Finally, its metal chassis makes it sturdier than other players in its price category, so it feels like a premium home theater component that should stand up better over the long term." |

The sound cuts off entirely when there’s a big explosion (ie: loud sounds) and comes back. It’s the only movie I have had problem with. (Watched about a dozen so far).

also, so we are not guessing, what gear do you have in the chain, receiver, sub and speakers. it helps and you should always list what's in the chain whenever asking for help.
