Default Sony UBP-X800 :: setup :: picture modes (experimenting)

i have the same set up :: LG OLED55C7P & Sony UBP-X800

suggestion (Sony UBP-X800) :: try changing the picture modes in the player

i recently changed to the movie mode as i was becoming increasing dissatisfied with the picture quality :: (also, i am still experimenting myself and testing over time)

of course, this is entire subjective, but experimenting with the various picture modes of the player itself (not the display) might be of interest to you

just further possibilities

The is for the reply I'm same as you been reading and reading on what is best and I am getting frustrated thinking my settings are not right I just want the best out of the tv and player I've tried loads of different setting in the tv and the player it's self and the picture to me doesn't blow me a way from normal blueray if you get what I mean

I think I'll keep it. It also seems to have fixed an A/V sync problem i had. It was a small problem; but now the sounds seems to be pefectly matched up .

I guess not using the 24p causes a sync issue due to frame rate.

Quite right. I remember noticing it back in the old days when all 1080i/p displays were 60hz.

That was another thing too. Ever since I started buying HDTVs I was so used to the 60hz refresh rate. I've had 4 different tv since then and I know at least 3 of them had a higher rate than 60hz (as I said, the one now has 240hz).

But thanks for the encouragement .

No problem sir. Everything is divisible by 24 nowadays, which just means more options.

Yep. Whenever discussions like this pop up about 24p it's surprising to me how many say that they don't use it/like it but I wonder if that's a hangover from the days of 60Hz panels and how they simply couldn't show 24p properly. Double that native frame rate to 120Hz though and boom: five 24's now fit, same goes for 10 into 240Hz (though is that just marketing spiel, what TVs have native 240Hz panels?).

Hi Geoff sorry to be a pain I have the x800 hooked up to a LG c7 OLED what do you recommend my x800 settings to be at the min I have deep colour off video resolution at 4k and upscale turned off and I don't see a difference when playing 4k or blueray from the other setting I have had. Any help would be great thanks.

That sounds about right re: your settings, if you're not getting blown away then that may be on your own expectations rather than the settings. It's tough to gauge these things over a forum.

Thanks for the reply Geoff so the setting I now have are the correct ones. Don't get me wrong the picture looks brilliant maybe I expect to much haha.

Unhappy Can’t play The Hitman’s Bodyguard

I am stumped. Got The Hitman’s Bodyguard 4K disc for Christmas. I loaded it into the X800 (with the home screen present). After the disc tries to load, the screen goes black and the player locks up. Hitting Home button does nothing. I returned disc for a new copy. Tried new copy, and the same thing (player locks up, screen goes black and doesn’t respond). Playing around with it, at one point it showed on screen a message that there was a problem with disc. And just after that, the screen said “no disc.”

I’ve tried other 4K discs and blu-ray disks, and they play fine. What is going on?

It has to be a defective disc, or one that the X800 doesn't like. Pass it to the discwashing method.

But that would be two brand new discs (that were spotless) that both failed!

Then you most likely have a defective player.

Even some brand new discs need to be washed with soap and then dried out.
Try it, it's worth the frustration and aggravation. It happens sometimes with few discs. Our 4K machines are not totally invincible.
