Is this technology still in the beta stage of development? Yikes! Can’t tell whether it’s the player or the discs that are not working as they should! |

Our disc players should come with a disc cleaning kit included inside the box.
And the onscreen display should mention if we need to wash the disc inside the machine or return the machine to the store. The day they all do that, that'll be the day. * The next step ... ⊙ https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15427 Or, to save money ... ⊙ https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24184 Last edited by LordoftheRings; 02-24-2018 at 10:09 PM. |

The toothpaste is for scratched discs that won't play.

Dish soap and paper towels.
Maybe, just maybe it’s possible this player needs firmware updates? Maybe Sony’s quality control is lacking? I get it. Some discs have a ‘film’ on them. But what about the ones that dont and are still having issues playing certain titles? Some people have no problem playing Dunkirk. Some have massive problems. Doubt it’s the discs, especially since they work on other machines. We should start pointing our fingers at Sony, and not Mr. Clean. |

When I first got my X1000es I was having issues with UHD's and Regular BD's freezing up constantly and I was also getting the black screen for a few seconds, sometimes I had to turn off the player and restart, then it worked fine after. I have the player connected directly to my tv and the audio through my soundbar. All 3 HDMI cables I was using on my setup were premium certified. So based on some info I gathered on these online forums, I decided to try new HDMI cables, I went to Target and bought three Monster Cables Advance Speed, even though they are not premium certified, they are 18gbs, they were pricey, @$40 a pop, but I was going to return them if they didn't work out. So I went home, installed all three cables, killed the internet connection on the player and to my surprise, everything has worked out perfect since. This was 3 months ago. I haven't had any issues since.

The only settings I have changed on my x800 are something about sound (I think it was BD-mix?) and to disable the upscaling.
Is it better to disable upscaling when connected to a B6 OLED and let the tv do the upscaling? Just to make sure - do I need to do anything with the TV or does it automatically upscale content? Thanks! |

Honestly guys I think some players are just bad. My first one was like this. It had occasional dropouts, occasionally wouldn't read the disc, would power on by mistake with the auto-power tie-in, and terrible freezing issues. So I exchanged it for another one and haven't had an of these problems since. I think a lot of players are just faulty. Some people are having minor recurring problems that are getting blamed on the disc, but it's very likely the player. They exist on a spectrum of brokenness too, with would appear to be recurring minor problems. You think it's something else because your player works well enough 90-95% of the time.

Go tell Bill (wmcclain) over @ AVS in the official Oppo 203 thread.
• http://watershade.net/wmcclain/UDP-203-faq.html His method worked for many customers. That info is directly from him, you don't have to abide by, you don't even have to accept, and you can say whatever you think about me providing bad information if you feel good doing it. You can wait all the time you want to see a mistake done and feel good on jumping on it without knowing where it's coming from and what it truly does. Yeah, go tell Bill over @ Oppo, don't give me your crap, got that. |

Agreed. I just take a dry microfiber cloth to mine and that fixes any problems more often than not.
