Default HDMI 2.1 (2019) :: CES 2019 (2019 models?)

my apology :: i was referring to 120/fps and not 120Hz panels (i only just realized my error - apparently, i am unable to delete this post)

===================

note :: this information is relevant to 120/fps and not 120/hz (silly me?)

no :: HDMI 2.1 is required

HDMI 2.1 :: the earliest any television will have support is 2019 models

note :: the earliest that certification (cables and transceivers) will be the end of 2018

note :: forthcoming 2018 televisions have support for 120/fps, although 'only' streaming (premium models)

It seems like my bluray player is going up so even though I don’t have a 4k tv yet I am going to get a 4k player. I assume all 4k players play blurays. Also is this Sony player the best for the money? I am eventually going to get a TCL 4k tv. Also I know his player can’t do DV. I don’t even know if care too much about that. Also will Sony becoming out with another player? Will this one drop in price?

But now we've got 120Hz panels they're a perfect fit for 24p content.
How can I know if my set has a 120 Hz display? My T.V. is an European model Samsung UE49KU6400.

it's a 'great player' and the pricing is 'up & down' by as much as $150 (half price) at times

it's a very pleasant player in use and supports 'audio' extensively

It is until it stops working. Mine died a week ago and I'm still waiting for Sony to give me an answer about my player, and it's very simple, the disc drive has stopped working.

I'm frustrated that it seems to stutter or stammer on certain titles but I guess that's par for the course with pretty much any player out there. I think it's likely one of the best players out there in its price range.

You have to check the pro reviews or go on the relevant thread on AVS or wherever, it's not something that you'll find listed in the manual.

I am in the market for a player now and I see that the Samsung M7500 is $99 with Blue Planet 2 4K. That is a great deal it seems. How does the Samsung match up to this Sony? I don't really care about the no WiFi. Also I don't use any apps on my current bluray player, all I do is watch movies and that is it.

Would you guys recommend up grading to the X700 or the LG to have a player that supports Dolby Vision? I'm very happy with this player, but I do want a Dolby Vision capable player. Maybe I'll just wait until it starts giving issues.

I have my video output settings in the main menu set to auto and upscale to auto 2. Is this what i should use for all content (4k, blu ray, and dvd) and should i leave 24p on for everything?

for what it's worth :: i have both the Sony UBP-X800 and the LG UP-970 (two of each with one of the LG UP-970's with Dolby Vision)

upon considerable comparisons, while i like the Sony UBP-X800's, i only use the LG UP-970 (Dolby Vision) as thus far, it always wins in comparisons regardless whether (DVD - HD - UHD/HDR10 - Dolby Vision)

therefore, nothing against the Sony, i cannot recommend the LG enough

i have no experience with the Sony UBP-X700 (at this point in time) although if it does not support the 'original full-profile' for Dolby Vision, i will pass on it (that's just me)

the display is the LG OLED55C7P :: (using the LG UP-970 with the LG OLED displays, will not disappoint) - highly recommended

I'm having a "double affair" with the tech center where I left my X-800 to be serviced (in Spain electronic brand don't do repairs themselves, they tell you to go to a local repairing shop which is contracted by them) and Sony Spain by e-mail.
All Sony Spain does is write pompous e-mails saying they're doing the best they can to get my player repaired as soon as possible but with no info at all.
The Tech center says everytime I call them that they should receive the defective part from Sony shortly. It's been over a week and I can't play my UHD BD discs, and in that time a friend's X-800 who bought it two weeks later than me has also stopped working, same as mine, it doesn't read discs, you insert a disc and it says "no disc".
On one of the e-mails to sony I enclosed the link to this thread so they see how unreliable this player is.
I've told them I want a NEW player as these seem to be hit or miss, some work fine, some are a nightmare at playing discs, and some just die suddenly. It doesn't offer me any confidence to have this player. In addition to that, I am a disabled person, I messed up my both shoulders on an accident almost 6 years ago up to the point that I'm a pensionist been 44 y/o, my shoulders are absolutely destroyed so I got my driver's licence taken from me and I can't go by bus or by train to the Tech center bearing the playing in its box like I did the last time as I end up having strong pain killers and muscle relaxers (Diazepam, 10 mmgrams,a strong one) to ease the pain and relax my arms,back and neck muscles, bearing anything that weighs over 3 kilos is killing painful. I told them all these and that I paid the asked price for a player that really and reliably works, or maybe should I forget about Sony and go for a Panasonic player? (I also told them this).
I never thought Sony could be so unprofessional. I'll stay away from them in the future.

If I were you I'd wait it out until issues arise. No need to run out and upgrade when your player is still working great.

Last evening my player freezed again
for the 3rd or 4th time since last black friday. Player freezes for just 1-3 minutes and reboots itself and again disc is played normally.

Starting to think to get the player repaired but afraid of that the service will not be able to see the fault and returns player to me with a fee.

4K newbie question:

A few months back I ventured into 4K with the LGOLED65E7P and I recently purchased the Sony UBPX800 to get the most out of it. I love the look of film, so I always adjust the settings to keep the FPS around 24. However, when I flip back and forth on the X800 between Dunkirk 4k and the regular Blu-ray, I feel like there is a slight soap opera effect with the 4K, while the motion on the Blu-ray looks better to me.

Do my eyes just have to become used to viewing 4K, or is there some secret setting that I'm missing that specifically affects the motion?

I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Yes, these are perfect. That's all you need. But get the 2pack or the 3pack for a dollar more.
