I just ordered the Sony UBP-X800 for $149.99 from B&H! Can't wait to get it.

Does it come with an HDMI cable in the box?

I am pretty much done with the noisy LG player and I am strongly considering this Sony player to pair with my LG OLED.

Are there any major flaws or complaints I should be aware of before I settle on the SONY?

Also, is $150 the best price for now, or are there upcoming Black Friday deals online (I am not going into any store on Black Friday no matter how cheap things are)?

Any better alternatives? Buying an OPPO or the more expensive Sony is not possible at this time.

There are plenty of complains, you need to read the whole thread, I bought my first one for much more but I am happy with it. At that kind of price there is little to be said other than it is a good, cheap player. The X1000I can see now is probably not worth the difference in money, I am glad I didn't buy it.

Some older WB discs will not. Ie, Vanilla Sky, Inception, LOTR, The Hobbit.

Not only are the BD player manufacturers super cheap for no longer including some flash storage with their players (it used to be common at least for mid-grade and up players), but they have idiots designing them so they put the USB ports in the front rather than in the back where they belong.

Yeah, totally agree here. It is like gaming consoles not coming with a minimum of 1TB standard. So does this mean I'm going to need another flash drive for this one and it is going to be sticking out of the front if I pick it up randian

So far as I know there is no built-in flash, and the USB jack is indeed on the front of the UBP-X800.

Been using right angle USB extension cables on BD and media players so I could connect HDD's or thumb drives to the units. Some right angle cables exit to the right and others to the left. Some I have work both ways. Sorry I can not remember where they were purchased (most likely Amazon, Monoprice).

I can understand Sony not including an extra USB port on the back of the X800, after all, is their entry player, however, I bought their way more expensive X1000es and it doesn't have an extra USB port on the back either, for $600 it should have included one.

I don't use BD live so this doesn't bother me, however, the resume playback feature and the ability to save bookmarks on some older WB discs, does bothers me. Granted, these aren't a lot of discs, but still.....

Plugging in a USB flash drive on the front of the player, no matter how small, damage the looks of this nice looking player as that little compartment door covering the USB port will remain open. This is all cosmetic crap yes I know, but I paid $600 dammit!

The stuff that comes in the box:

- Player
- Remote
- 2 generic AAA batteries (for remote)
- Power cable

All of a sudden my receiver is displaying a HDCP Error when I try to play a disc on the UBP X800. It will play the video but audio cuts out after 2 or 3 seconds. That's when I get the flashing error message. Has anybody else experienced this issue?

I can make the picture brighter by pushing the HDR conversion bar to 1, but much like cranking up my settings or turning the tv on Vivid, it doesn't make it right. If you have to change the picture settings drastically, then the source is obviously flawed.
Just to clarify: The Deep Color setting on the TV, and not the player. You don't have to have Deep Color set on the player itself. Just enabled on the TV.

Deep Color or UHD HDMI Color or Expanded HDMI Color? Deep Color is only about the bit depth of video signal, either 8, 10 or 12 bits, UHD HDMI Color or Expanded HDMI Color is needed for an HDR set to input and display HDR video properly.

I was simply responding to Blu Balls about his setup as he states he has some weird issues with some HDR titles.

It's pretty basic, but I just wanted to clarify that I was speaking about the HDMI Deep Color setting was turned on his LG OLED, and not the Deep Color setting on the player.

Default $149.99 sale price with free shipping is good thru 11-27-2017 or until sold out

I was looking online and the Sony UBP-X800 for $149.99 with free shipping is valid from some online dealers like ABT until 11-27-2017 or until all inventory is sold (which every comes first).

That is question you will need to answer for yourself. If you only watch movies and do not play videogames then the Sony UBP-X800 is a better choice. However if you are a videogame player that wants the latest and best videogames, then the XBOX X is ideal, but the 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray player is currently not as good for movie watching when compared to the Sony. Plus the Sony does SACD and DVD-Audio playback.

You may have the HDMI audio out from the blu-ray player connected to the wrong HDMI input on the receiver, and if so, switch the HDMI input tp another source on the receiver. If you have the HDMI from the blu-ray player connected to the HDCP port, that's the wrong one.
