As far as not wanting any, you could grab two popular ones and sell them.
Actually it's me who is the problem -- the only modern movies I buy are comic book movies and Star Trek, etc. Not Sony's fault! I'd be interested in catalog titles or the previously mentioned Spider-Man movies. I hope they add a few. If not, I'll ask my buddy if he is interested in any on the list.

Two movies is pretty generous on their part.

Does anyone who has this machine know why you need to turn the HDR setting to Off in order to get a good picture?

For UHD Blu-ray only. The format has no region coding.

Any solid rumors floating around the industry about this player getting a Dolby Vision update?

What do you mean by "good" --?

Does your set have HDR?

Yes, both my TV and Blu-ray player are Sony HDR. When I try to watch The OA, which is an HDR show, on the Netflix app on the Blu-ray player, it's all washed out with no contrast no matter how much I fiddle with the settings, but if I turn the HDR off on the Blu-ray player the show looks awesome. Makes no sense.

I don't do the streaming, but starting with Post #215 in this thread somebody is mentioning Netflix issues.

Another reason not to get this player besides the fact that it doesn't have the Ultra app. I either already have the movies you can choose from or don't want them.

LOL, thats not a reason. You could get two of the flicks and turn around and sell them in the AVS classifieds for $30-40.

It is probably going to end up being one of the better and more accurate players out there this year, with great support, for $299. Not sure what else you people want, but there sure is a lot of *****ing in UHD threads these days.

The biggest reason is because I want a player that doesn't already do what other players do. A big selling point for this one would be for it to support the Sony Ultra app which is currently still only available on certain Sony TVs.

At least it has an option to turn the HDR setting off if you want. I believe it's the only 4K player that has that. I know the Samsung player doesn't.

Maybe that would be a reason for me to check it out when it's on sale? The Oppo is supposed to do it as well but I don't think it works well. Does it actually work on this player?

Watched several hours of Amazon 1080p and UHD today, PQ is great. Watching an episode of Luke Cage in HDR right now, also looks good and I def like that the apps put out 24hz.

Going to try out Inferno UHD tonight.
