Were you using a region free player? I got my Sony player during an early Black Friday Sale and have mostly experienced freezing issues with WB 4K UHD Bluray movies so far. I also had my first read issue with my Pacific Rim 4K UHD Bluray, the player wouldn't read it at first so I had to reinsert it again before it worked.

You mean region free discs? It happened with Wind River and The Shallows, both BD. I won't be able to keep testing until the weekend, but we'll see. I'll report back with the results. Luckily it's holiday season and return periods are extended to January.

Can't say that Sony is not encouraging 4K Blu-ray customers.
...Above the competition; $ value and build quality and performance and fast applications wise.

Before I got a 4K capable receiver I did the same. The old receiver had a feature called "HDMI auto sync" that worked pretty good for 1080p. With my 4K setup it only worked when the third cable was also connected. The downside to this was that the TV always switched to another input when I paused a movie and started it again.

If you don't have an auto sync feature and the the audio delay adjustment can only be done on screen this should work, too. All players (I guess, at least the Samsung K8500 and the Panasonic do this) put out not only the audio but also a 720p black screen with it. So you should be able to switch the TV to the receiver's input, adjust the audio delay and switch back to the input connected to the 4K player.
Im running the same setup as your’s: HDM1 to TV for 4K picture, HDMI 2 to AVR for sound. AVR video out is connected to TV to access settings menu. Unfortunately Auto Lip Sync feature is disabled since the AVR is only getting audio from the 2nd hdmi. I have the Pioneer VSX-01THX which supports HDMI 1.3 passthrough only. I might have to buy a calibration disc and manually sync the audio.

Hello all. I have an Xbox One X as my current 4k bluray player. Do you think its worth it to buy this as a dedicated 4k bluray player? I keep hearing that the Xbox One X isn't the best player out there in terms of quality. Thoughts?

Ok, I've kinda been in a cave for the past month, so don't laugh.

Just turned on my x800 today and noticed that Vudu is on the apps. Has that always been there and I just missed it, or was it recently added?

Hi. I have both. I have found the X perfectly fine as a 4K player - it is a little bit noisier than the X800 for playing 4K discs (quieter with blu-ray) say but the noise isnt distracting for me. I am tending to use the X800 for 4K films though as its multiregion so will play any disc I own.

I would turn DSD to OFF (or PCM, whatever the option for no DSD is) and Auto DRC to OFF.

Does your AV receiver have a coaxial input? Without HDMI then thats the only option you have.

It's always been there, but it's not 4K-enabled. So I never use it.

Talking $149 Sale?

Was going to pick up the UBP-X800 at Best Buy today, but the sale ended!

Found it at P.C. Richard online. Hope to have in my hands by Dec 11!

The Best Buy sale ($149.99) was back on today at my local Best Buy. It had been back up to $199.99 but I was surprised to see it changed today.

Both of my devices recognized the player but when I clicked for it to "cast" it never would go through.

I've never had a problem with being able to cast to my 55 inch HDTV upstairs so I know its not my tablet/phone.
Anyone with a answer?

I believe so! I'll post back with the receiver name when I hook everything up. I think it is the Harmon-Kardon AVR 335 or something like that.

I'm suprised that the Best Buy I went to the day after Black Friday still had stacks of this 4k Blu-ray players in stock along with with the other 4k blu-ray players considering the sale prices. I also never see anyone looking a the 4k blu-ray players at Best Buy. Seems like physical media is becoming a niche.

Well, I guess it is the end of physical media then...
