Before you go and start upgrading movies give them a try in the new player. You might be surprised at how well they look.

My TV keeps showing SDR, not HDR (when I hit the INFO button). But it's still giving me the 2160 4K info.

How do I get HDR?

My tv is a Samsung 55" Class JU7100 4K UHD Smart TV

Also, I have the 24 fames/sec turned off. I hate the way it makes the picture look. Too smooth.

with out a doubt The nicest bluray player I have ever owned. Its like majic even on 1080p. Makes it look like I bought a new tv. I can't buy a new tv cause I want 3d so this will have to do. For200 it a no brainer.

I am not sure what's causing your problem, it could be a number of things. I don't see why you think 24fps makes it smooth because it should only represent the movies in the way they were shot. Do you run the signal through an old receiver? You may have switched off HDR either on the player or the tv

The Player is hooked up directly to the TV. I used the AUDIO Only HDMI port through an older receiver.

Should I turn the UHD color on my TV?

I'm sorry, my mistake, when I press the "Display button" on my Blu-ray player remote, it shows:

4K/24p

SDR.

I am not sure what you mean by the UHD color? Did you mean HDR? If so yes it should be on.
I am not familiar with your samsung but it should have some HDR setting. The player has a setting to switch it off and one to control the conversion when the other setting is off but unless you've changed it the default is on.

It should show HDR. I think you have changed the setting on the player. Are you pllaying a 4k disc or are you upscaling a BD?

The HDMI ports are 2.0, not 2.0a. Oh well, the picture looks fantastic still .

Sorry to hear, it must be an older model. When playing a disc on the player remotes press option>HDR conversion. With some movies that setting might prove useful as sometimes when HDR gets converted can be too dark. Another to keep in mind in screen settings you can set the TV as a projector instead of TV, that will lighten up the picture. HDR converted is generally good straight away but some movies are very fiddly.

It's a 2015 TV model. Still has great reviews for the picture, despite not having HDR.

I am sure, it is an endless race. I bought my tv recently and now another new HDMI standard will be introduced.
