sounds like and LFE issue with the speaker when loud LFE is being asked to be reproduced. no to mention how ever much bass is crossed over to it and might also be active while trying to reproduce the loud, low freq explosion.
also, check the sub cable and make sure it's in good. one last thing, to make sure we understand you, when you say ALL sound, do you mean the "loudness & rumble" of the explosion or do you mean, your room goes silent as if you loss all power to your system unexpectedly? what is the time from loss to restore, a second or two, or are we talking longer? can you get a little closer to say your center channel during an explosion, do you hear the loss of all sound from it? just trying to determine if it's a sub or system issue. |

I just don't know for sure dadd. I suggested what I thought was best:
1. Clean the disc 2. Exchange the disc Happy New Year! |

It could be the way this disc was mastered and might be endemic to all the Dunkirk discs. I say this because I had a similar issue with the last "Total Recall" movie released and my old Sony Bluray Player, BDP-S360. I must have exchanged 5 discs and the issue of freezing or audio skipping occurred at the exact same locations across all the discs that I exchanged without fail. I went on the web searching about this issue and Sony had the worst time of it. A workaround was suggested using the settings of the BluRay player and it played fine after that. It was my only problem BluRay for the old Sony. Exchange the disc and see if the problem still exists. The other thing you may want to do is to check for a firmware upgrade for this player. I hope this helps.

Sorry about the delay, I didn't want to write all this on my phone so I waited until I started at the office. About my setup: I actually don't have a sound system. I'm using Skullcandy 7.1 Surround sound gaming headphones (they don't support DTS). My setup is the x800 plugged into a Sony x900E and then passthrough the optical digital out into the headphones. Since they don'T support DTS, I have to downgrade to PCM for this movie. I'm kinda bummed out that Dunkirk doesn't have an Atmos track which sound spectacular in these headphones. So yes, the sound crackles and cut off completely for a split second in loud scenes. Note that the Blu-Ray version does NOT do that with the same setup and player. I've read a few threads on other groups that also mention cut offs with DUnkirk, so that's why I was asking here about your own experiences. |

I have not seen any 8K consumer displays on the market. They are not at Best Buy or Amazon, etc. So the answer is no consumers are upscaling to 8K since they cannot obtain a 8K display yet. Now in the lab and at CES 2018 there will be some 8K upscaling occurring. |

I compare here because I can, and nobody is going to kill me. The 8K is good humor. And you know what John, the little Sony can hold its own against the big boys. I mentioned the 205 because it's the audiophile player, the best, the toughest build. Don't take it the wrong way, take it the good way. Me too I recommend the 205, and the 203, and the 800, and the 900. LG OLED Dolby Vision > Oppo Front projector > Panasonic, and Oppo too. Sony OLED and LED > Sony, or Oppo. Samsung QLED > Sony, or Samsung, or Oppo, or Panasonic. Best value > Sony Best HDR>SDR = Panasonic Best set of connections and build > Oppo Best set of features > It depends of each person's own actual use. Best of the best > It depends, of the other equipment and of the eyes of the owner. The ones who compared the three; Sony, Oppo and Panasonic, and now the new 9500 Samsung, are the ones who make their own choice. There is high end and there is high end; money money money. Love, respect, open mind, live and let live. Nobody is better than nobody. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 01-04-2018 at 07:02 PM. |

I need a second 4K HDR player to hook up my new 4K upscaling projector and take advantage of Atmos and hiugher disc bitrate. What's the cheapest this is going for? I dont need anything fancy, just enough to paly 4K discs on a 1080p projector
