Once again, if the player is connected to the internet, disconnect it. I was having the same issue and have not had any issues since disconnecting the player from the internet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The main issue I have is the same movies keep freezing, muting, or skipping at the same exact time, every time. Put the disc in my Xbox and it works fine. I’ve exchanged one of my trouble movies thinking it was the disc and it still skipped. Exchanged the whole player, still skipped. Disconnected from the internet, still skipped. ![]() Last edited by RustinCohle; 01-17-2018 at 12:30 AM. |

As well wash each disk before the first play , I know it sounds dumb but even if it looks clean ya never know.

A couple of other minor issues that cropped up so far. Lost my network connection yesterday. I have all the devices in my home theater rack plugged into a wireless bridge via Ethernet. Tried the setup utility and it would not recognize the wired network connection. Tried unplugging and plugging the Ethernet cable, and that restored the connection. Also, the player could not read the SACD layer on one of my hybrid discs (my old Denon universal DVD player does read it). Have yet to encounter this issue with the other SACDs I've tried so far. I have a dedicated Sony CD/SACD changer as well that no longer reads any hybrid SACDs (apparently, it's a known issue with Sony's SACD players from a decade ago). Keeping my fingers crossed that the drive on the X800 has fixed those issues from Sony's older hybrid drives. |

These user reviews can take several days and hours to complete. After doing some more testing, I updated the user review and added information on the 24fps feature and mentioned the DVD-Audio auto play feature when a disc is first loaded.

Last Friday I received Interstellar which is a 3 layer disc and I cleaned it before playing it, I whatched the movie in one go and no freezing. Clean your discs before playing them, some of them may look spotless but they're not. |

I have had my x800 since early last year and so far had no problems at all with 4k discs. The only skipping I had was on kingdom of heaven blueray for some reason.

Try it, do it several times and observe the onscreen image shifting. Also, on a 3D BR rolling credits @ the end, with white titles appearing and disappearing, the black level is changing/pulsating from dark black to grey to dark black and so on. That was from 'Assassin's Creed'. |

It’s happened with a few movies, but most recently, and the one I’ve been testing it on (since I watched it last) is Brawl in Cell Block 99. Somewhere around the 1:12 mark the audio cuts out for about three seconds, but only on the Sony. Plays fine on my Xbox. I’ve exchanged the disc and player, tried a new hdmi cable, tried a different input, disconnected the player from the internet, and it still happens.
I don’t care about this movie THAT much, but at this point I’m really curious why this is happening. I could maybe understand if it was at a different point in the movie every time I put it in, but it’s bizarre that it keeps happening at the same exact time and only when pairing this specific disc with this specific player.. I have a concern and would appreciate the feedback but do you think its recomended I turn off Deep Color or leave it in Auto? When Im dealing with banding I just think thats a reason to play with Deep Color. Please anyone advise me on this.

This may be a weird comment, but I feel like I have a sharper image for my Blu-rays if I set the 4K Upscaling to off. I don't know why, but the image seems almost blurry when I set it Auto2.
Not sure I can tell a difference with Auto1 either. |

I have used Auto2 from the start per recommended settings on various sites and it seems fine.

I first set my X-800 to 4K and Auto2 when I got it 8 months ago. A couple of months later while playing the Arrow BD of Ronin I tested switching the X-800 to Original Resolution and discovered that my 49" Samsung TV set did a better job at upscaling to 4K than the X-800, which felt like if it was appliying some kind of DNR when upconverting 1080p to 4K.

Has anyone found a small enough USB Flash drive yet and able to close that little compartment door? I really do not want a flash drive sticking out with the inability to close that lid covering the USB drive port. Was looking online but can't seem to find anything that would fit with the lid close. The Ulra Cruzer is real small but the cap is bulky and will prevent the lid from closing. I thought about trying to remove the cap but that probably will damage it. Damn you Sony for removing that USB port from the back of the player.

And it varies also from one film to another film. ....And with each viewer's set of eyes. ...And for each display. There was a time where zero on the sharpness control, was the recommended setting. Today we watch DVD, Blu-ray 2D, Blu-ray 3D, 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray streaming, 4K streaming, ... For 4K Blu-ray, the correct setting is the one you experimented with and that you prefer, in overall average. There are two custom picture settings, options...that's nice. Theater is nice, very. |
