I've just started to have a error with my 800 this week telling me that my HDMI 1 is for Audio and HDMI 2 is for Video. The problem is that i already had it wired that way since my receiver doesn't have the 4K pass through, so basically i had to switch wires do it is backwards to what it is supposed to be.

Everything seems to be working but I still have it backwards to what i thought it was supposed to be with the Audio out of HDMI 2. I tried to reinstall firmware but don't think i had it on the flash drive correct (the 4 parts were in root folder but not the only things on the drive).

Has anyone else tried playing The Hitman's Bodyguard 4k disk in the X800? I saw someone commented that the rental version played fine. I was hoping other folks purchased a 4K copy that plays fine on the X800, so I know i'm not expecting too much from this player. |

Thanks for the feedback! I thought it was crazy that Sony was telling me that not all 4K movies will play on the X800! I’m still trying to resolve the issue with the support folks at Sony. I hope to have a player that works soon!

If other movies all work it is likely a problem with the disc. Have you already exchanged it?

Maybe check your connections. Actually pull them out n plug them back in. Maybe the HDMI isn't fully pushed in, and that is the disc that's having the most problems. Another suggestion would be trying to turn off the internet from the player. Worth a try. Other than that, I don't know what else could be affecting that particular movie.

Curious as to what you guys think. For years I watched blu-rays with the 24p function turned OFF. Watched them in 1080/60p
Now that I turned it on and I’m getting used to it, would that cause me to think the a/v sync is off? But in reality, I’m finally seeing and hearing blu-rays the way they’re meant to be seen (1080/24p)? |

The 24 frames function was terrible back in the day but it’s a lot better now. |

Yeah, it really was. When the shift from 1080i/60fps to 1080p/24fps in 2007-2008 happened it was a mishmash of problems across the display manufacturers. It wasn't until about 2010 that 1080p/24fps was free of jutter and sync issues across the board.

Indeedy. I think we'd be surprised as to how many people still steer clear of 24p playback because of legacy tech issues like this. A lot of those earlier flatscreen TVs having 60Hz panels was the killer, you just can't fit 24 into 60 without inducing dat 3:2 pulldown. But now we've got 120Hz panels they're a perfect fit for 24p content.
