Guys, I'm having a problem and I can't seem to fix it. I have this player hooked up directly to my Samsung UN55JU7100 with HDMI 1 and use HDMI 2 to my Samsung HT-H7730 home theatre system.

My problem is when I set the output resolution to auto or original and turn off the 4K upscaling, my A/V sync is off.

But when I turn on the 4K upscaling or set it to a fixed resolution of 4K, the audio is fine, but then I lose picture quality. It's not as detailed and seems out of focus. Not by a lot, but it's enough to notice when switching between upscaled 4K and original resolution.

Can anybody help me? Thanks guys!

Yes, but I have it on the "Direct" setting under video settings.

I'm honestly lost here guys. The picture quality shouldn't be worse when upscaling to 4K, it should look better.

And if I alter the A/V sync, then the a/v sync is off when playing normal 4K blu-rays. Maybe I should consider buying a different 4K Blu-ray player.

My X800, now that I’ve tweaked a few of the settings, plays flawlessly. The only ‘downfall’ is that it doesn’t have DV. However, I’ve never watched a disc with DV so I don’t know what the big deal is. I guess it would be cool to have just to see what it’s like, but for $500 (when my $150 player plays great) I don’t NEED it.
What settings are you using, if you don't mind my asking.

I have output to 4K, fps-24,direct, and upscaling off. I'm not sure if I'm missing anything...

So, is there anyone who is buying 4k UHD's to use in this player but only has a 1080p TV/projector?

If I buy this player, and play my UHD's (so far bought 4 of them), but output as 1080p, is there any improvement?

My long term goal is to get a 4k projector, but looks like this year is a bust for that. But, I started buying the discs for all new BD's (SW9, Thor, Justice League, etc).

Anyone already doing this?

Buying 4K discs before proper hardware is bought? Sure!

I didn't get a 4K display until June of 2017 and a player until December. However, I started buying UHD releases Summer of 2016.

I only consider it a waste of money if a person buys a 4k disc but only has a normal blu-ray player and does not a have a 4k TV and only buys the movie just to watch once then resells it before the person owns 4k hardware.

Is the X800 worth the extra money over the X700 because of the construction quality even though there is no future DV support on the X800? I think that the X700 is too cheap looking.

The x800 has a better build quality but it's weight is in metal plating. It's just casing to make the machine heavier. So it runs more silently. But the x700 is newer and will be Dolby Vision compatible in time. If you're looking at getting a new player today for the first time then you probably want to look into getting the x700. But it will probably make more noise when the disc spins and have some quality control issues of its own since its a newer model.

I have an x800 and I love it. However my first one had all sorts of problems so I had to exchange it. The new one has been working flawlessly. Really happy with the performance of this machine. I bought it (kept it) knowing that I'd have to get yet another new machine in the future in order to play DV discs. But that was a couple months ago. It's probably time to consider getting the x700 unless your setup won't have DV.

I don't have a 4k TV yet. I'm in no rush to buy a 4K TV. If I'm going to get a 4k TV, I want to get one that supports both HDR and DV. 1080p TV's 40" and larger seem to be getting phased out to ones that are 4k and so I know my next TV will be a 4k one. I just don't think that at this point in time I should consider a normal blu-ray player.

yes :: "if Dolby Vision does not interest you"

Dolby Vision :: if it interests you (look elsewhere)

note :: i have both the Sony UBP-X800 and LG UP970 (two each) :: conclusion? (Sony = quality build & audio) - (LG - picture quality; especially Dolby Vision) - (Sony UBP-X700 - many 'unknowns')

I just unpacked my X800. It does certainly feel like a nice piece of kit and unlike most of the current players it stacks nicely with other equipment. Haven't had a chance to really mess with it though other than setting it up and running the test patterns to adjust my TV since it's a bit darker than my Xbone.
