![]() I am not in the wrong thread. A couple of family members own two Sony UBP-X800 that I setup and spent many weeks running tests on. My point is since the OPPO players are now out of production, a lot more people that are looking for SACD and DVD-Audio support from a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player are most likely now going to purchase the Sony UBP-X800. After the Sony UBP-X800 is no longer available, there is no more Blu-ray players on the market that support both SACD's and DVD-Audio discs. The new Sony UBP-X700 that replaces the UBP-X800 does not support DVD-Audio discs. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 04-05-2018 at 04:00 AM. |

Beginning with the BDP-S770 in 2010, Sony have always supported SA-CD. What attracted me with the S770, was the higher resolution DSD decimation of 24/176.4 PCM v 24/88.2 PCM for everyone else.

* I have that model too (S770), plus few more...all with SACD playability. ** The X800 with DVD-Audio playback support was truly a tour-de-force from Sony. ...Magic! ![]() |

If someone here encounters a similar issue with his Sony X800 player I sure will suggest it as an option. Because those new 4K discs are not all created equal and not going under quality control, no way, just no way. They stack the discs together, they get scratched, some have a foggy cloud of residues on their surface, the laser lenses have to go thru, some laser mechanisms are sensitive, we also have BD100s with three layers. This affair means business, business is money, revenues, and down the expenses for paying extra for quality control. We live in the year 2018, that's the reality. * I don't mind @ all that you reply like you just did here, because it's worth it to hear what people experience on this issue. We know for a fact that it works with Oppo players, not all the time but it did for many people. If a new 4K disc doesn't play, or freezes with the Sony X800 player, we like to know the solutions, and that includes dish soap. We are not the only two people who use an 800, we are millions of us...all across. |

You’re not supposed to wash your vehicle with $3 bottles of dish soap because it will tarnish the paint. If dish soap isn’t good for something as durable as vehicle paint, what’s it gonna do to a disc? All I’m saying is, have firsthand knowledge. |

I have washed cd's and dvd's with dish soap for years. If I had problems and could not see any scratches on the disc, then straight to the kitchen sink I would go. It worked probably 90% of the time. I still do it when a disc jumps or locks up, although I don't need to do it very often, it works well enough that it is always the first thing I try with a problem disc ! BTW, I have first hand knowledge here ! |

WAIT !, lol perhaps I should have stated that I have not needed to try this with my X800 yet, but, would not be surprised at all if it works with that too ! |

Some Sony X800 owners here had success with dish soap on 4K discs that weren't playing, or freezing. I did not encounter this situation yet, I only have 70 4K discs. I'm brand new @ this. With another 4K BR player from a different manufacturer the couple brief glitches I encountered are not even worth mentioning, easily resolved with a clean wipe. 4K is a different ball game, it's a pretty picture and it's a little fussy @ times, different video adjustments too, and not all 4K discs are flamboyant, some are somber, like the catacombs of Jakarta. |

If you think dish soap is bad for you just don't use it. If you think I have no knowledge, no experience with dish soap and 5-inch discs, it's best you forget all about it and put your energy somewhere else. This is my last reply to you because I can predict that you just won't quit contradicting me. And I just don't want to argue, I'm just not in the mode to argue, with nobody. I'm sure you understand that. |

But, many folks don't have one of those. That's where dish soap comes up with a dry clean wipe after; a gentle chamois if you have, or something similar...soft and that don't leave any residues. |
