I used the Sony 800 for almost 6 months and probably watched 300 hours worth of content both 4K and Blu rays and no issues. Then I bought the 700 and no issues with that either.

Sony and Panasonic Blu-ray players are some of the best on the market. No problems with the Sony and Panasonic players I have used over the last 8 years. The Sony UBP-X800 is a excellent 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player that a family member that I know uses almost every day with no issues.

Many bugs today; Amazon crashed and still is caput. ...Prime Time.
And many other bugs and crashes from other web sites and ... this morning. It's a weird day, it's super hot and there is a lot of traffic on Amazon Prime with all the sales going on. As for the X800, $160 is a great price for a great universal 4K BR player. As for the bugs; like anywhere in real life...there are some somewhere, and more somewhere else, and none in different places. It depends...of many things, and nowhere is there an absolute global reaffirmation common to the universal general population. Nobody has the two exactly same setups with the exact same combination of audio/video gear, and the exact same settings. Anything can happen, anytime, it happened before and it will happen again, it's just a question of when ... Last edited by LordoftheRings; 07-16-2018 at 10:09 PM. |

$158 $158 $158 buy this baby for $158.
Talk about a great price! ...It's like free! ...Almost. One of the things most important to electronic consumers is PRICE. It's important to talk about price; without that, life is a big empty hole without value, meaningless, a big zero minus zero, a cowboy without a horse, a leader of a lost country under the lost Atlantis, blindfolded and empty under the ocean's floor. Jesus Christ! $158! Last edited by LordoftheRings; 07-18-2018 at 04:59 AM. |

Hi
I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone could help me because I'm at my wits end. Bought a Sony UBP X800 and I have a Samsung Samsung LU28H750UQUXEN 4K Monitor. I can't read in 4k when I put in a UHD 4k Disc (Blade Runner 2049 its' the only I've got) I have a HDMI Cable bought this year on Amazon UK (CSL - 5m UHD HDMI 2.0b Cable | NEWEST TECHNOLOGY: 4K @ 60Hz / 2160p / 4:4:4 | with Ethernet | ARC and CEC | Deep Color | fully HDCP compliant / HD Ready / 3D TV ) and even connected from the player HDMI out to the Monitor HDMI 1 Port when I'm watching what is supposedly a 4k disc on a 4k player on 4k Monitor it says when I press "display" on the player remote on the top left part of the screen 1080/24p when it should be 4k/24p I think. Can anyone help please? Cheers lorenzosd (I also got the Martian in UHD and same thing happens) |

1. Is the player set for 2160p output (in settings menu)? 2. Does the monitor have multiple HDMI ports? Some displays have multiple ports but not all will be 4K compatible. |

![]() Best Buy sold out of refurbished Sony UBP-X800 players for $99.99. That was a excellent price, I have never seen refurbished players that cheap before. I have seen new ones sale for $149.99 in Nov and Dec of 2017. Best Buy is currently selling new ones for $249.99 and most stores have this Sony for around $250-$300. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-ge...?skuId=5848830 |

I would not recommend buying one of these players refurbished. The problems exist under certain conditions and Sony has had trouble recognizing the problems, admitting the problems, replicating the problems, and they haven't fixed the problems. They are probably just repackaged returns. I own the x800, finally got it under control, and I would not buy one of these refurbs. The first one I owned was a hot mess; it also would have tested normally for hours at a time.

I have three X800's with one of them being refurbished. I have not had any problems with any of them. Also the refurb unit I purchased came with a Sony 90day warranty plus with certain credit cards it would be doubled. I believe a Best Buy extended warranty is also available.

That's what I was going to say; the Best Buy refurbs still have a 90-day warranty, enough time to realize that it was simply a return from a customer who didn't like a thing or two for his own taste.
Hundred bucks is grand theft. That's five and half players for the price of one 203! |
