Really frustrated with this player at this point. 4 nights in a row, completely frozen while streaming Netflix. Have to unplug to get to work. Then it freezes an hour or so later. I can make it thru 1 episode of Haunting of Hill house before “rebooting”. This sucks. Anyone else have this issue? I’m hesitant to do a firmware update after all the other horror stories

For example, I've had my Roku Ultra for well over a year and have absolutely no problems with it. Updates are automatically loaded online from Roku when they become available, as are updated apps. More to the point, I've found the the Sony apps inherently unreliable, so I don't bother with them ... ever! WRT "Haunting of Hill House", you're not missing much. It's simply just an overwrought soap opera. It could tell the story more effectively if it was pared down to 2-3 hours in length, IMO. Last edited by Iain-; 11-02-2018 at 01:19 PM. Has anyone else had the player reset all of their information randomly? I turned it on earlier to watch Fantastic Beast with the kids and my Netflix and Prime passwords were gone. Also, none of my settings were correct. It's almost like I did a factory reset.

Hard reset, unplugging...it resolves many problems with BR players, receivers, TVs, computers, laptops, modems, routers, etc.

Last week I played several triple layer/100 GB discs, like Robin Hood, The Matrix, Interstellar, Superman and I rewatched the first season of Game Of Thrones which are all triple layer/100 GB discs and I didn't have a single freezin with any triple layer (or dual layer, I received and watched the same day The Fog) discs I played.
I got my X-800 on June 2017 and didn't have any problem with it, yet, it froze from time to time, it spent a whole month playing discs everyday and Didn't got any freezing. In April one day it started recognizing any kind of disc. I took it to Sony to be serviced but as it was still under guarrantee and Sony Spain lacked some pieces to repair it they just give me a new one, a new one that has only froze one that I remember and it was playing Prometheus. The new player seems far more reliable then my first one. |

I would think “Sony really should fix their issues!” would be a better response, but you go ahead and spend your money as you see fit, I’ll spend mine as I see fit And a new streaming device wouldn’t fix it freezing on blu-rays either, so there is that! |

I have set the color format to 4:2:2 in the screen settings menu, but the player is still sending out 4:4:4 for 4k hdr blu ray content. Is that expected? Is there a different setting I have to change to force 4:2:2? Thanks

Anyone have issues playing regular cds? I set up is the 800x with a Denon avr1400 and it plays 4k and blu ray discs fine (video and audio). However when I put in a regular audio cd, it shows the track listing and shows the cd playing, but there's no sound....

How do you know that the player is sending 4:4:4 video while playing 4K HDR material despite you have it configured at 4:2:2? Does your T.V. set tells you what kind of signal is receiving? My Samsung 49" 4K HDR set only tells the resolution, frame rate and if it's HDR or not.
