As mentioned before I like the SACD and DVD-Audio playback feature, however the wired Ethernet card built in only supports 100Mbps networking (picture of back of player on Sony's website lists LAN 100). The Sony PS3 from 2006 supports 1Gbps networking and all the other 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players except Sony's, supports 1Gbps networking.

Now if this Sony came out with a list price or street price of $200 it would be a very attractive Blu-ray player for people to purchase. Still no list price mentioned.

Default sony

One cool thing about is it has Bluetooth capabilities, wish they would do that for the Playstation instead of having to use a USB drive.

Someone at AVS claiming to have inside info says the 800 msrp is $399 and the 1000 is $799. Robert Zohn may know whats up soon too.

$799 for the flagship would make sense to me, they need to be in Panny 900 range.

The Oppo 203's price may have helped add a built-in cushion to get the higher end chipsets that would support Dolby Vision.

If it isn't guaranteed the Sony 800 will get a DV upgrade, it's the Oppo for me.

No DV support when their 2017 TV's will have it would just be another confirmation that Sony is in deep, deep trouble.

Oppo is doing all the beta testing on their customers for Mediatek and Sony's laser LOL, so all the bugs will be worked out for Sony's launch.

Only if it's the same Mediatek chip that can handle DV and if Sony actually follows through on a full DV upgrade.

Oppo is a custom version per them, but Sony and Oppo were both waiting on the new design from MT that came last summer.

And then there is all the error correction issue the 203 has, and that is a sony laser on the Oppo.

Probably end up getting the X800 player. Their first Atmos receiver looks good too but unfortunately placing speakers on the ceiling is a big no no here with wifey...

From memory it seems to me that it's the first time ever in Sony's history that DVD-Audio playback is supported by one of their spinners.
Too bad HDCD is missing. It would have been a true Universal player.
But you need analog stereo out jacks for that.

* $199 would be real swell, yes. And $149 even better.

God, I'd love a $199 price point, and would be over the moon with a $149 entry. This would instantly be my first dedicated 4K player (I currently use the XB1 S on my 55 inch KS8000).

Yep, the 1080p version UHPH1 sells for $350. Might even better figure $499.

Given that their 2017 OLEDs and top tier LCDs (and 2016 LCDs, via upgrade) are all DV, I'd be pretty surprised if their UHD BR player were not.

Well, while Oppo and LG have publicly advertized it for their players, Sony has ONLY said anything about their displays...

There is still the Front and Rear Height positions. Second best placement location for the overheads.
