Has there been any word on when this is coming out in Canada? Why such a long delay?

BestBuy.ca had it listed for a bit but it was instantly sold old in store and online, it has since been taken down.

Anyone know how to bitstream DTS:X with this player? I'm watching Furious 7 and it's showing as DTS-HD HR and not DTS:X .

Never mind this is apparently an issue with Furious 7 particularly.

Can you or anyone confirm the Sony x800 VUDU App will send Dolby Vision and Atmos signals to the AVR. At VUDU App UHD means with Dolby Vision, Atmos. Not HDR10.

Universal and DTS screwed this release up (along with F&F 6). It has a lossy core rather than lossless, so most decoders won't recognize the bitstream metadata and act accordingly.

Why they would put out a premium 4k Blu-ray with lossy audio in this day and age is beyond me.

But hey, it's Universal.

For everything else, make sure BD Audio Mixing is turned off. Bitstreaming is turned on.

According to that thread(from VUDU themselves), the Sony UBP-X800 doesn't meet the security requirements for UHD streaming on their app. I'm not sure why, but thus far, VUDU seems very hesitant to include UHD streaming on any 4K Blu-ray player. The lone exception is the Xbox One S. Otherwise it's been relegated to Roku devices and TVs themselves.

That sucks though. That means I'm basically stuck holding onto the Roku Ultra for VUDU UHD. I have an Xbox One S, but their VUDU app is really glitchy with UHD.

Any chance Microsoft signed a exclusive deal for XBOX One S for VUDU. Or maybe the other 4K Blu-ray players will get VUDU also with security software update.

Vudu seems lost. Started off supporting the wrong HDR (not many devices doing DV), then announced support for HDR10. Limited UHD support movie wise and device wise, and $29 to buy a UHD movie. LMAO. Joke.

I don't think it's an exclusivity thing. VUDU seems really hardcore about this security issue. I've asked them on their forums why the top of the line Samsung 4KTVs from 2015 can't get UHD streaming and they claim it's because of that.

Thankfully there are some alternatives out there. The FandangoNow app offers Universal titles in 4K with HDR. No Atmos audio, but something is better than nothing.

This is an issue with your receiver. Some receivers need to be updated to decode DTS:X from the DTS-HD HR track properly.

The ROku Ultra works great. I just wish Vudu would hurry up and start offering HDR10 with their UHD titles. I don't have an issue with The Ultras 60P output since my Sony UHD TV does a great job eliminating any judder.

Of course I would rather my X800 get access to UHD from Vudu. My X800 is now my go to box for Netflix. The Ultra used to be. I hope the X800 allows streaming AMazon HDR content soon. Then I can use the X800 for Amazon instead of my Roku Ultra.

Mine's up to date. Furious 7 is the only disc that doesn't show as DTS:X all my other DTS:X discs play properly.

That's because all your other discs have DTS:X with lossless DTS-HD MA. Furious is the first one to have DTS:X with lossy DTS-HD HR.

Several of the receiver makers said they would be updating their receivers to correctly decode this to DTS:X. Denon is one of them working on an update

Here is a quote from Denon customer service about DTS:X with the furious titles.
Quote:
Why can’t my AVR decode the DTS:X track on Blu-ray titles Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7?
Due to certain track options on the Blu-ray disc titles Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7, your AVR may only see an encoded DTS-HD Master track available.

We are currently working on a firmware update for this problem which should be ready sometime in the near future.
In the meantime, you can access your Height channels by adding the up-mixing simulation DTS Neural:X from within the AVR to your already encoded DTS-HD Master track.

To do this, please use the MOVIE button on your AVR remote and select “DTS-HD + Neural:X” from the surround mode menu. This mode will allow for a 7.1 base track plus any applicable Height channels.

*This FAQ only applies to the following AVR models with DTS:X firmware already installed:

2015 AVR Models: AVR-S710W, AVR-S910W, AVR-X1200W, AVR-X2200W, AVR-X3200W

2016 AVR Models: AVR-S720W, AVR-S920W, AVR-X1300W, AVR-X2300W, AVR-X3300W

2017 AVR Models: AVR-S730H, AVR-S930H

Vudu have currently appx 95 UHD Dolby Vision Atmos movies. If you redeem your HDR10 Disk UV Code properly you can get most those 95 DV movies at VUDU for free. And Many many UHD HDR10 blu disc are dropping to below $20 very fast. And as soon as DV Blu disc comes out we should see the really price NoseDive.

Most my 12 Vudu DV movies are near or at Reference Levels. HDR10 disc don't compare in PQ on my LG E6.
I got them free with UHD UV Redeem Code. Happy, Happy, Happy

Gotcha. Thanks for the info I'll keep an eye out for an update. Will use Neural in the meantime.

How long does it take to get the email back from Sony with the Code for the 2 free movies?

I registered on Saturday afternoon, then realized I put in the wrong serial number. I called up Sony and the person on the phone "said" they changed it for me but here we are almost Friday and no email yet.

I used the # on the back of the Unit, just under the Model. There is a spot where it shows NO xxxxxxx where the x's I "think" are the serial number.

I just received my X800 and Sony 55" 900E. I'm really liking the new 4k tv and the quality/speed of the x800. However, I've been tweaking the settings and I just can't seem to get the wow factor from Ultra HD blurays with HDR. What are some of the recommended settings? Streaming ultrahd from Amazon and Vudu look phenomenal but I just can't get UHD blurays to look great. Thanks.

Get Planet Earth 2 UHD. That should do it.

I just received it in Canada... order it directly from Sony (well actually from their partner Gentec).
