No problem! Though I'm afraid I don't know the answers to your questions. I imagine only half the HDMI ports are HDR as Sony expects you're likely to only have one (or maybe two) devices that would actually need to use it. Probably just a cost/efficiency thing... As for the picture perfect disc, I've no experience with one of those - sorry! Others may know more

It is fine hopefully some one will reply but it is thanks to you I solved my dark problem. I thought I needed a new TV and the one I had just recently bought wasn't up to the job haha.

Does anyone know which HDMI input on the Sony XBR55X930D TV the X800 needs to be plugged into in order to enable HDR or is every input HDR compatible?

I think you need to enable each HDMI input to be using enhanced format. Check under Settings / External Inputs / HDMI Signal Format

It looks like Sony is playing hard on this UHD BD player. I live in Spain and I'm Spanish, consumer electronics are more expensive here than in the US and discounts and ''especial offers'' at laughable. The Sony UBP-800 was released here on mid to late April for 450€. I bought mine two weeks ago for 335 € on a Spanish on line shop (shipping included) with TWO free movies that came WITH the player, no need to redeem anything and wait for the discs to arrive and of course Amazon Spain price-matched it and other on line and physical shops as well. I've never seen such a thing in Spain regarding an Audio/Video component.

I think you are right. It would need to be new players in theory. In theory this player around Christmas time sales for around $199.99 brand new.

In 2018, Sony should release their second-generation 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision. It might be a lower priced plastic case build quality with a list price of $199.99 and a end of year $99.99 price? Just a educated guess.

The 2 free movie offer has now been extended to 9-30-17 according to Amazon's website. Brand new Sony UBP-X800 might stay price locked at around $268 until the promotion expires. Maybe after 9-30-17 another price drop might occur.

Got this last week. Very Nice. I picked Life and 5th Wave for my free movies. Wish I would of waited, now that this is extended. Would of loved to see the new movies they added.

Be grateful - Sony UK only had the offer for pre-orders of the player. Plus they have the cheek to charge about $500 for it over here (that does include tax, though)
