Multichannel PCM and bitstreaming TrueHD and DTS-HD MA are all covered in 1.3 so those features will work just fine from the Sony's second HDMI out. HDMI is designed to work in this backwards compatible fashion, it detects what the target devices are capable of via the EDID. The whole point of having the second HDMI out is for devices that are NOT 4K compatible in the first place, so you can still send 4K video to your display and HD audio to your non-4K/HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0-enabled AVR.

No and sadly it's not coming it seems. Sony have said officially some weeks ago that it wasn't coming. Don't have the link though. Probably because x800 lacks the hardware but the only pre-installed their ZD9.

It seems that for certain scenes on the Wonder Woman and Pacific Rim UHD, I detect some banding. They are most easily seen during scenes with a white background. I have noticed it during Pacific Rim when the father and his son are on the foggy beach before Gipsy Danger stumbles into view, and during Wonder Woman at the beginning when the camera is zooming through the clouds before showing us Paris. I could be wrong, but I may have noticed it on some regular BDs as well.

My JS8500 is set to UHD Color for the assigned outputs, and the player is using HDR, 4:4:4, and deep color. Any ideas why this might be happening? Is it a problem with the discs or my equipment settings?

Direct just does a 1:1 playback of the disc. Auto can change it.

Picture stutters during pans when watching region 1 Gatchaman II DVDs. I also briefly see horizontal lines during quick movements on screen, which I guess has something to do with the DVDs being 480i? Any chance getting rid of the stutterering without activating motion interpolation?

I'm thinking of getting the UBP-X800. I've been watching the price on Amazon, and it varies every day! One day it shows $249, today shows $212, tomorrow may be back to $249.

Anyone know why the price keeps going up AND down?

Atmos playback question, every time I play an atmos track the display reads Dolby true hd (when I hit the display button I mean) , and my Yamaha a770 receiver displays atmos/DTHD, not atmos by itself. Do I have a setting wrong or is this normal? Thanks

Entirely absolutely 100% normal and correct as far as the player is concerned. The player doesn't 'see' the Atmos or DTS:X extension at all because it's not decoded by the player, the immersive metadata is designed to be carried along via bitstream to the AVR which will do the relevant Atmos/X decoding.

Thanks for the reply Geoff. It was driving me nuts, I was like man I upgraded my receiver, speakers, tv, and my damn atmos isn’t working/displaying?!? Lol thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

I tested Transformers The Last Knight earlier today and it seems that certain scenes also have some color banding issuses in them, such as with the sky during the scene at the beginning when Merlin is asking for help. Also noticed it on Cade's truck as he stops and talks to the chief guy while driving.

After a little more testing I've found that it may have something to do with the player using 4:4:4 or maybe the TV's UHD Color mode. I popped in Pacific Rim again with that scene at the foggy beach and aside from some banding, I also noticed what looked like artifacting of some kind in the clouds. I'm still not entirely certain what's going on, so any help on this color banding issue would be welcome.

try clearing your cache and deleting cookies, I noticed this behavior when I switched to a different computer, they were showing different prices. Remember they are tracking your views.
