I often have thought about just finding a cheaper acoustic at a pawn shop or something and just trying to learn a bit off of YouTube. |

My right biceps hurts quite a bit. Have a Monday afternoon interview for a DSP job and I'm going to take it if they offer because the DDW agency I interviewed with this week would be a contractor job. I prefer to be an actual employee so I can have stuff like benefits, PTO and so forth.

I think the Target BOGO50Off sale is going until tomorrow. I want to try and get to a store and check out their selection. I'll try and remember to check online tonight after my movie. I'm not sure what I'll watch yet.

I always wanted to learn and play guitar like some of my favorites. Or close to it. I started playing on a guitar when I was a kid. I quit and didn't pick one back up until I was 25. That was 26 years ago. I still have that guitar. It's electric and basic. I even have the amp still. I would play it off and on over the years but never anything serious. Then when I got this MacBook Air and discovered GarageBand everything changed. At first, I used the computer to make the guitar parts. Then I learned that you could plug your guitar into the program/laptop and use that. That's when THE WHOLE THING changed for me. I got a new guitar, a bass, and then my Gretsch TW-100 series electric. I've been playing ever since and recording. a lot of it stays on this laptop, but some of it is on Bandcamp. I'm not some whiz or as talented as some of those I love listening to. However, I am quite alright and I sometimes manage to make something that I am proud of. And proud to say I would put up there with some of my favorite artists. I'm not musically inclined that much. I can't read music nor can I tell you which chords are what. I just play what I feel coming out of me. Sometimes letting the backing track guide me along. A lot of the amps, tones, and pickups on GarageBand do a good bit of the heavy lifting. But you've got to have something in there or otherwise, it would sound like mush. Some of it does (a good bit actually) but there is still quite a bit that comes together as a song. I've got one called Conquest (French Connections II) which is one of those examples. I've got it out for public consumption. I have another one called Love G (unadorned) which is an even better example. It started out as a song I was fooling around with and signing words to. There was a melody to it. It turns out the melody was the 3rd verse melody from Vicki Waiting. The guitar part sounds nothing like Vicki Waiting and the words are nowhere near that song. I am always inspired by others and other songs, but not to the point of plagiarism. I could never quite get Love G to work as a full band song but I am trying. It's my favorite one I've written, but it's not out yet. I want it to be perfect because it deserves to be. Writing lyrics is where my strength REALLY is. I feel I can best Dylan at times. Guitar playing and music is not. But that is the point of this long post. It takes a certain something to be a Kenny Withrow or a Prince, but it doesn't take much more to play. Just remember this one thing: Play because you want to and love to Play because you have to Got to get it out before it kills you If that's all you ever do If that's all y ou ever do Why can't you see, that love is free For you and for me So, don't take it for granted With love in your heart keeps you planted Listen because you want to Listen because you need to feel Let the music guide your soul Feed the senses, that is the goal Feed the senses, that is the goal Why can't you see, that love is free For you and for me So, don't take it for granted With love in your heart keeps you planted We are all blue Deep down inside We are all blue In this life we haven't got a clue We are all blue Why can't you see, that love is free For you and for me So, don't take it for granted With love in your heart keeps you planted |

Headed down to Philly on Wednesday to pick up some car parts.
![]() Probably make a day out of it and currently planning things out. There’s a Raising Cane’s nearby that I plan on hitting for lunch. First time there. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m sure Wabo does..he’s been telling me to go for months haha. Also stopping at IKEA to view the SS United States which is across the street. The ship is being evicted soon which is a shame but she’s been moored up there since ‘96. ![]() Also hitting Trader Joe’s and Costco. Last edited by sfmarine; 06-17-2024 at 11:24 PM. |

![]() The box combo at Canes is my go to. I get 2 meals out of it. 4 fingers, fries, slaw, texas toast and a drink. You'll want to add an extra sauce too. You can sub out the slaw for an extra toast if you desire. I like the slaw so I get it. Pro tip: get the toast "bob" butter on both sides. But if it were me, I'd hit Pat's or Geno's if I'm in Philly. Can anyone recommend a good alarm clock? Missed an appointment today because the iPhone alarm silenced itself.. it must have because I specifically set the alarm sound, the volume, made sure it was off silent. None of those measures were adequate.
Not sure why Apple doesn’t want anyone making appointments, Chinese sabotage? Anyway, a while back I bought a dedicated alarm clock for this, it also randomly didn’t go off and couldn’t even keep time to save its life. |
