Apparently my local Wal-Mart still stocks 4k blu-rays. I haven't been in there in maybe 7 or 8 years. It's always an experience, and the last time I was there someone asked me for gas money (which I happily gave).

With the recent Amazon pre-order new release fiascos and being that I miss the good ol' days of walking into my local Best Buy, I'm going to give my local Wal-Mart store a shot on new release days. And add B&N to the list, too, which both are in the same vicinity from me. Hopefully they'll have in-store pick-up available as well. I'll still pre-order of course as a backup. But since I've completely lost faith in online pre-orders, I'm hoping local B&Ms will be a better option. And I'm happy to support them if it'll help keep disc media in store, for what it's worth.

The insurance adjuster came to look at my car today. We are 19 days since the incident which is just insane considering I have no idea if it is totaled and what they will give me for it. He did say probably but here is the kicker. He needed approx 1 hour to look the car over.

Or as I call it, I'm gonna inspect the piss out of you car to see if we can give you less for it if we find things not working. He was in the back seat, trunk, photographed every wheel and checked the tire tread. I was waiting for him to break out a floor jack to inspect the undercarriage.

He even changed my seat setting and tested the lumbar support. WTF!

He told me he still had no answer and would need to do more research before a figure was given. Absolutely unreal.

That's wild, good luck on the appraisal.

My wife's old ass Honda Accord was totaled not too long ago, they offered her $8K for it, I almost shat my britches. I told her to take the money and run.

$8k is pretty darn good. How old was it?

He's probably pissed off that he had to actually do his job and put some work/effort in.....so he took it out on you. How dare you make a legit claim like that!

It was decently old, had been in the north with snow and salted roads, wasn't in the best shape and was one of the weird, seemingly non-typical Accord-y styles.

EDIT - Apparently 2003 - 2007:

That could easily pay for a new bespoke Savile Row suit.

You don’t need to tell me about snow and salted roads as I’m in the north and yes it sucks. My car has definitely seen better days being that it’s an ‘05 but only 138k which I hope will help my payout. I still feel like the guy will lowball me. This guy was crazy thorough looking for any and all ways to deduct value. I’m tempted to reject it if they offer me peanuts. With the AWD, it will get me through the upcoming winter and I can save my other vehicles. Might as well rack up the miles on the older one. Trade in is just about $2k.

Damn. Yeah I agree that they definitely did you a favor considering it was approx 15 years old.

Wasn't sure whether to put this in Vent your anger or this thread. Got on here earlier and started off good with getting some posts done, but then my OCD started causing problems. Sometimes it creeps up on me without me realising it, and other times I know it's there. It can be very soul destroying when you are struggling to focus and concentrate, while at the same time mindful of the fact that you're losing time and don't have the luxury of being on here all day spreading your posts throughout the day.

A simple thing of clicking on the Thanks button for a post can take a matter of seconds for some people. But from my point of view it feels like a mountain to climb.

When I know the OCD thoughts are creeping up on me, when I'm having a good period I can switch off from and ignore them.

Default Boutique label title announcements

Looking forward to the boutique label announcements in the next couple of days, although some may be a smaller set of titles being announced (Arrow and Powerhouse Films), as they will be for December and that's usually a quieter month:

Tomorrow (Thursday): Umbrella Australia (January slate) and Powerhouse Films (nothing has been announced on the previous Thursdays this month, so they should be tomorrow)

Friday: Arrow Video (December slate) and Terror Vision (Week Eight of '13 Weeks of Halloween').

I may have missed some other title announcements happening before this coming weekend. A week today (Wednesday, October 1st) we'll be getting the October slate announced by Vinegar Syndrome and the Partner labels.

Wondering now if Eureka are moving their monthly title announcements to the start of the month. We got the last set of title announcements early this month, and as far as I can see there has been no preview post on their Facebook page since (normally it's posted on the Tuesday).

If it wasn't rusted, that's a really good generation of Accords. But $8K is all the cheddar and then some - was this closer to the peak of the pandemic or more recently?
